The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Co closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chiba did well to prevent Co getting side control. Co working Chiba over with strikes. Co has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Co is controlling the pace.
Co stalling away here and it's allowed Chiba to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Chiba wants to stand but Co is controlling the position. Co content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Co is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Co engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Co postures up and lands a big shot to Chiba's brow. Co working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Co landing with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Co is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Co accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Chiba wants to stand up but Co is controlling him. Co is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chiba is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chiba has escaped and now he's on top! Chiba has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Co to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Chiba is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Co pulls down on the head and he's put Chiba to sleep! This one is all over!
