Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Byson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Rock!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byson misses with a looping left.
Byson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
It looks like Tommy Rock has been cut.
Rock tries to clinch there but Byson circles away.
Byson throws a jab but it's blocked by Rock.
Rock uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Byson.
Rock wants to clinch
and Byson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Byson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rock.
Rock tries to close the distance and clinch but Byson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rock ducks under a wild hook from Byson.
Byson throws a hook but Rock blocks it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rock.
Byson lands with a cross.
Some wild striking there from Byson.
Byson swinging wildly here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Byson thuds his right hand into Rock's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Rock doesn't manage to clinch there - Byson circles away.
Rock shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rock bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rock tries to clinch but Byson moves out of range.
Oooooh!!! Byson has knocked Rock down with a huge combo! Byson steps away and waves a wobbly Rock back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Byson lands a big uppercut and Rock crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Rock looks OK. Byson waves Rock back to his feet!
Rock is rocked!
Byson lands an uppercut, right on the button! Rock tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mike Byson!
