Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silva Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Paulo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Silva Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Paulo!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails to land the takedown.

Diaz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paulo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Paulo trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.

Paulo has gone for a leg lock! Diaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Paulo's guard.
Diaz wants to stand and escape but instead Paulo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Paulo works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Paulo is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paulo on the ground.
Diaz is looking to control Paulo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted?
Diaz wants to stand back up but Paulo manages to pass into side control.

Paulo is trying to get an arm triangle but Diaz is defending well.

Paulo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Diaz, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Diaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Paulo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paulo misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet.

Paulo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Diaz tries to escape but Paulo is in control.

Sloppy strikes there by Paulo.

Paulo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Diaz has escaped the position, nice work there.

Paulo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Paulo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Diaz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Paulo but great work by Diaz.
Diaz tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Paulo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Diaz is looking to clinch.
Diaz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paulo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Paulo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
Diaz tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Paulo counters with a single leg into guard. Diaz didn't expect that.
Marcos Paulo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Paulo tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Paulo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Paulo throwing strikes but missing.

Paulo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diaz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diaz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diaz!
Diaz tries to stand but Paulo is controlling his head.
Paulo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

A control attempt from Paulo but he's now mounted!
Diaz wants to stand but Paulo is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Paulo slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet.

Diaz decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paulo shoots in and drives through. Diaz sprawls well.
Paulo is breathing heavily.
Diaz wants to clinch.
Diaz fails with the takedown.
Diaz scores with a jab to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paulo swats away the attempt to clinch by Diaz.
Diaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Paulo. Paulo gets slowly back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Paulo gets tackled into the cage by Diaz. Diaz maintains the clinch.
Diaz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Diaz is trying to push Paulo away but Paulo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Paulo manages to pull guard.

Diaz stands and steps away. Paulo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Paulo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva Diaz dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Diaz wants to stand but Paulo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Silva Diaz wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Diaz tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Paulo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diaz's guard.
Paulo won't allow Diaz to get back to his feet.
Diaz keeping full guard, as Paulo tries to pass.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Diaz is looking to stand up but Paulo isn't so interested in that idea.

Paulo gets to his feet - Diaz follows without any prompting.
Paulo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diaz tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Paulo counters by clinching up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Paulo is trying to trip Diaz. He has hold of a leg but Diaz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Paulo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Paulo stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Diaz drives through and clinches with Paulo against the cage.
Diaz prevents a takedown attempt there.
Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Diaz wants to get back to striking at distance but Paulo won't allow it.
Diaz stops a takedown attempt from Paulo.
Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Diaz pulls guard.
Diaz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Paulo trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
Paulo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard.

Diaz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Paulo.
Diaz is looking to escape.
Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paulo is working away from the top position though.
Paulo prevents Diaz from standing back up.

Paulo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Diaz is positioning himself well to prevent Paulo advancing to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcos Paulo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Paulo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
