Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenny Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Lovett! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lovett attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Eric Lovett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt. Penn swats away the attempt to clinch by Lovett. Penn tries to clinch but Lovett moves away and Lovett counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Penn! Lovett looking for a guillotine from mount but Penn is having none of it. Penn really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lovett cracks Penn with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Lovett postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Penn looks a forlorn figure.
Lovett lands a heavy elbow. The referee warns Penn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Penn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Penn is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Lovett punishing his opponent with strikes. Lovett lands a big shot there that rocks Penn but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Penn tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Lovett counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lovett. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lovett lands a right hand that snaps the head of Penn backwards. Lovett is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Penn gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Lovett dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It looks like Kenny Penn has been cut. Lovett unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Penn wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Lovett celebrates on the ropes and the crowd goes wild!
