Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mordecai Wollsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Vegata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mordecai Wollsey has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mordecai Wollsey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Vegata! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vegata closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wollsey did well to prevent Vegata getting side control. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Wollsey is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Wollsey tries to reverse the position but Vegata maintains control. Wollsey is working hard here to advance position. Vegata misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Wollsey is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Wollsey wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Vegata.
Vegata with good strikes from the mount here! Vegata putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vegata wants to finish this one by submission but Wollsey is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Vegata. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wollsey regains half guard.

Wollsey is looking to get back to full guard here but Vegata has managed to pass to side control instead. Wollsey wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Vegata swings around for an armbar but Wollsey sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Vegata's guard. Vegata is trying to control the position but Wollsey postures up. Vegata keeping moving, preventing Wollsey from controlling successfully. Vegata working a defensive guard here.
Wollsey chips away with some ground and pound. Vegata is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Vegata preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wollsey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vegata works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Vegata is trying to control the position but Wollsey postures up. Vegata looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Wollsey passes into side control.
Vegata tries to improve position but can't. Wollsey working the body and head with strikes. Vegata isn't going anywhere. This has been an exciting period of action! Wollsey fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Vegata gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Wollsey is looking to take a break and control but Vegata is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Wollsey slips a nice elbow through Vegata's hands, connecting with Vegata's forehead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wollsey trying to control from Vegata's half guard. Vegata has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Wollsey wants to control from the top but Vegata keeps moving. Wollsey throwing strikes but missing. Vegata looking to control.
Vegata utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Vegata is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Wollsey pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vegata is keeping the position for now. Vegata has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Wollsey has passed into side control.
Wollsey creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Vegata sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wollsey throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Vegata sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Ground and pound from Wollsey. The fighters are battling for position here. Vegata manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Wollsey in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wollsey trying to control but Vegata is working from the bottom. Vegata wants to sweep here but Wollsey controlling him for the moment. Wollsey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vegata has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wollsey has managed to get both his arms back between Vegata's legs - danger averted. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vegata bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wollsey's guard. Vegata won't allow Wollsey to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Antonio Vegata will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Vegata fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wollsey rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Vegata counters with a stiff right hand. Vegata cracks Wollsey with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Vegata needs to keep his hands up - Wollsey had a free shot at his head there. Wollsey punishes Vegata's body with a nice straight punch. Good shot there by Wollsey. Wollsey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wollsey throws a nice looking combination but Vegata bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Vegata shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wollsey's guard. Vegata passes easily into side control. Nice work. Wollsey is not content to let Vegata control the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Wollsey is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vegata tries to advance to mount but can't. Wollsey tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wollsey manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Vegata is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Wollsey still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Wollsey has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Wollsey tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Wollsey lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Vegata struggling a bit here. Wollsey tries to score with some ground and pound. Vegata controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

You can see the frustration on Vegata's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Vegata tries to improve position but can't. Vegata taking punishment in the form of punches.

Wollsey working the ground and pound. Antonio Vegata has got the better of the ground game so far. Wollsey cracks Vegata with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Vegata is rocked! Wollsey scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Vegata is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Wollsey can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
