The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers shoots in and bounces Curik off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Curik wants to sweep here but Powers controlling him for the moment.
Powers chips away with some ground and pound.
Powers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Curik is trying to keep Powers in close.
Powers lands a couple of digs.
Powers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Powers showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Powers with a nice head shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Curik looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Powers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Powers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Powers passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Powers is putting a hurting on Curik here, landing some big shots from side control.
A lull in the action here.
Powers connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Curik some visible discomfort.
Curik striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Powers is working Curik over with some ground and pound from side control.
Powers scores with a couple of short elbows.
Curik sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Powers is working for a kimura but Curik is defending it quite comfortably.
Curik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Powers controlling the pace.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Powers connects with a nice short shot to Curik's temple.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Powers lands a nice short elbow.

Powers is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Curik is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
