Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ron Park! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Millar! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Park pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Millar shoots for a double leg takedown but Park sprawls well. He's pushed Millar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Park is looking to land body kicks. Millar misses with a wild combination.
Millar shoots and misses and Park counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Millar's guard now. Millar looks gassed! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Millar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Park controls from within his opponent's guard. Park passes into half guard. Park is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Park's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Park looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Park moves nicely into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Park advances nicely into full mount. Millar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Park.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Park throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Park wants to control the pace but Millar is squirming around nicely. Park thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Park looking to control but Millar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Park throws some wild stikes that Millar manages to avoid easily.

Ron Park dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Park avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Millar throws a leg kick but Park sees it coming and moves out of range. Millar tries to clinch but Park is having none of it. Dan Millar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Millar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Park kicks Millar off and gets to his feet. A punch combination from Park misses. Park is looking to clinch but Millar is avoiding it.
Millar is looking to land body kicks. The fight stays on the outside here - Park looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Millar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Park swivels and escapes. Park pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Millar is breathing heavily. Millar misses with a kick to the body.
Park bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Millar is not content to let Park control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Millar is being controlled here. Ron Park overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Park decides to take the fight back to the feet. Millar has Park up against the cage in a clinch.
Park is trying to break free. Park is trying to break the clinch but Millar has him pressed against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Millar is trying to pull guard but Park has him pressed against the cage.

Park blocks a leg kick. Park swats away the attempt to clinch by Millar. Millar misses with a takedown and Park counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Millar! Ron Park has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Millar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Park looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Park misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Park controlling the pace for now. Park throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Park is working for a guillotine from mount but Millar frees his head quite easily.
Park throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Millar because Park loaded up on that one. Millar is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Park throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Millar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Park is fending him off so far but Millar persists. Nope, Park circles away and we're back to standing. Millar pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Park closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Millar did well to prevent Park getting side control. Park thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Still in half guard, Park seems content to control. Park frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Park working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Park has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Park quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Park but it's paid off an Millar is forced to tap! Nice work by Park.
