PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reece Edward Duenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Roshan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duenas comes to the cage accompanied by California Gurls. Roshan has chosen Tupac Featuring Notorious B.I.G. as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Reece Edward Duenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Damian Roshan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roshan looks for a takedown but Duenas sprawls well.
Roshan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Duenas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roshan somewhat.

and Duenas makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Reece Edward Duenas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Roshan.
A decent looking cross lands there for Duenas.

Duenas moves into range and clinches up with Roshan.

Duenas has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Roshan regains guard immediately.

Duenas stands up over Roshan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Duenas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roshan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duenas has managed to get both his arms back between Roshan's legs - danger averted.
Duenas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Duenas wants to control from the top but Roshan keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roshan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duenas's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Reece Edward Duenas will probably get the nod.

Duenas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Roshan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Duenas.
