Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Herald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Kane! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herald stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Ron Kane has been cut. Herald avoids the head kick by Kane.
Kane is looking to slow Herald down with leg kicks. Kane pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Justin Herald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A looping hook to the body misses from Herald. Kane does a little dance to reset his feet. Kane throws a sloppy head kick and Herald moves out of range easily. Herald fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Herald throws a series of punches but Kane moves out of range. Kane throws a leg kick which misses Herald's front leg but catches the back leg as Herald tries to avoid it. Herald uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kane.
A punch combination from Herald misses. Herald takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Herald throws a head kick that misses. Kane wants to slow Herald down by chopping away at his legs. Herald keeps the fight on the outside. A cross from Kane lands. Herald misses with a wild combination.
Kane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Herald throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A punch combination from Herald misses. Kane takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Herald has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Kane lands a nice looking body kick. Kane chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Herald is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Kane misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kane lands a really nice looking cross but Herald seems unphased.
Kane scores with a jab to the jaw. Herald looks to throw the jab but Kane is out of range. Kane misses the shot to the body. Herald avoids the head kick by Kane.
A low kick from Herald misses and Kane counters with a body kick that stops Herald in his tracks momentarily. Kane lands with a kick to the ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Herald drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Kane lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Kane lands a leg kick that knocks Herald off balance momentarily. Herald misses with a low kick. Nice body kick there by Kane. Herald moves out of range as Kane throws a body kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kane. That's going to slow Herald down. Kane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Kane fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Herald manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Kane tries to pass to full mount but Herald defends it. Herald avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kane. Herald is not content to let Kane control the position. Kane has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Herald is trying to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kane wants to control but Herald is keeping him busy. Kane not doing much here.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ron Kane was stalling too much, according to the referee. A lazy body kick from Herald and Kane connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Kane slips a jab and a cross from Herald.
Herald throws a hook but Kane avoids it easily. Herald blocks a low kick nicely. Good shot there by Kane. Herald bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kane's head backwards. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Herald throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily. Herald is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab from Kane finds it's way through Herald's defenses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kane. Herald takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Herald takes a kick to the side of the head. Herald fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kane explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Kane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kane misses with a body kick. Herald swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Kane ducks under a wild hook from Herald. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kane gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Kane lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Still in the clinch, Kane scores with a nice short uppercut. A shot in the inside from Kane. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ron Kane dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ron Kane's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kane falls off balance throwing a combination
and Herald makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kane. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Kane lands with a straight right. Herald didn't see that one coming. Herald with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kane slips under a jab. Kane misses with an attempted mid kick.
Herald throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Herald looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kane avoids a kick to the body.
Justin Herald is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kane throws a chopping leg kick but Herald manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Kane uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Herald.

Kane has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. A decent looking body kick lands there for Herald. Kane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A big left from Kane misses. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kane lands a lovely overhand right. Herald feints a jab promting Kane to slip. Herald then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kane slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kane blocks a jab. Herald throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Herald circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ron Kane seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kane throws a hook but Herald blocks it. Herald throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Herald misses with a few strikes there.
Herald throws a series of punches but Kane moves out of range. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kane looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
That has opened up Ron Kane's cut even more. A jab from Kane does it's job there. Kane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Herald looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kane throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Herald misses with a body shot.
Kane fakes the leg kick and cracks Herald in the body. Kane jabs at Herald's body. Kane lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Herald misses with a wild body shot. Herald cracks the inside of Kane's front leg. Kane tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kane. Herald looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kane scores with a jab to the jaw. Kane displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Herald throws out the jab. Kane lands a lovely overhand right. Herald misses with a two punch combination.
Kane shoots in and gets a takedown into Herald's guard. Kane throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kane trying to control but Herald is working from the bottom. Kane stands and throws Herald's legs to the side, diving into side control. Herald tries to buck Kane off but Kane is having none of it. Herald is working hard here to advance position. Kane misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Herald keeps Kane under control for a moment. This has been an exciting period of action! Kane working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Herald tries to buck Kane off but Kane is having none of it. Kane decides to stand up, so the ref orders Herald to his feet. Kane shoots in but Herald avoids the takedown attempt easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Herald ducks right into an uppercut from Kane. Herald takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Herald lands a nice shot to the body.

A close second round but Ron Kane will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Ron Kane's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Herald will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Herald wants to get back to striking at distance but Kane won't allow it.
Herald wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kane has him pressed against the cage. Herald looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A short left from Herald. Kane softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Herald wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Kane is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A battle for position here, against the cage. Kane lands a shot to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A frustrated look appears on Herald's face as he tries to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kane gets a trip takedown into half guard. Herald is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard. Herald wants to sweep but Kane has passed to side control! Kane throws an elbow but Herald slips to the side and avoids it well. Ron Kane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kane working away. Kane throwing shots but missing, from side control. Kane remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Herald regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kane's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Kane landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Justin Herald has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kane thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kane lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Herald is looking to get back to full guard here but Kane has managed to pass to side control instead. Kane controls the position. Kane creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Kane happy to just control the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kane trying to control the action but Herald is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Herald being controlled for a moment. Herald is positioning himself to get back to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kane remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that's the end of the fight! Ron Kane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
