Simpson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
SILVA must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Simpson wants to sweep here but SILVA controlling him for the moment.
Simpson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in SILVA's guard.
Simpson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed SILVA's guard.
SILVA wants to get back to full guard.
Simpson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
SILVA slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Simpson missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Simpson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for SILVA!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Simpson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but SILVA manages to avoid the submission attempt.

SILVA is looking for a sweep.
Simpson lands a nice forearm strike.
SILVA tries to bench press Simpson off him but Simpson keeps the position.
Simpson in side control lands a decent elbow.
SILVA tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Simpson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Simpson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Simpson has hold of SILVA's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! SILVA tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Simpson cranks the arm and SILVA screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from SILVA, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
