Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Monke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Kindbom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Derek Monke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Kindbom! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monke darts in and clinches Kindbom up against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Monke.
Kindbom letting Monke take a breather here. Kindbom successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kindbom is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Monke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kindbom can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Monke controls the pace. Monke's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Monke won't allow Kindbom to sweep him here. Kindbom striking off his back, scoring a few points. Monke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Monke tries to clinch but Kindbom is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monke drives through with a takedown into guard. Monke stops Kindbom from standing up. Monke wants to control from the top but Kindbom keeps moving. Kindbom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kindbom has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Monke is stalling in the full guard. Kindbom looking to control.
Monke works over Kindbom with some ground and pound from guard. Kindbom thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Kindbom looking for a sweep. Not yet Kindbom, not yet. Kindbom looks gassed! Monke slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monke has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Monke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kindbom on the ground. Monke trying to control but Kindbom is working from the bottom. Kindbom throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kindbom keeping full guard, as Monke tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monke trying to control but Kindbom is working from the bottom. Kindbom scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Kindbom. No joy for Monke on that attempt. Monke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kindbom's waist but Kindbom gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monke off to one side. Kindbom closes the distance and clinches up with Monke, looking for a takedown. Kindbom pushes Monke against the cage but Monke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Monke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kindbom makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Monke. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kindbom looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Monke trying to control here.
Kindbom passes the guard and advances to mount! Kindbom working for a guillotine from mount but Monke is in no mood to give up. Kindbom thowing shots but they're missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monke tries to get back to half guard but can't. Monke wants to hold on but Kindbom pushes him away. Kindbom wants to stand but Monke is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Monke is trying desperately to improve position. Kindbom trying to control but he's not successful this time. Monke really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Monke in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Kindbom dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Monke throws a right and a left that both miss. Kindbom tries for a takedown but Monke circles away easily and Monke counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Monke. Kindbom wants to sweep but no luck. Monke trying to control the position from guard on top but Kindbom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Monke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kindbom is keeping the position for now. Monke stopping the sweep attempt from Kindbom. Monke trying to control but Kindbom is working from the bottom. Monke seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Kindbom is trying to keep Monke in close.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Horrible takedown by Kindbom or perhaps it was just good defense by Monke which made him look bad. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Monke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kindbom's waist but Kindbom gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monke off to one side. Monke doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kindbom counters by clinching up. Kindbom drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Monke gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Derek Monke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Kindbom. Kindbom goes for a takedown attempt but Monke pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Monke. Kindbom manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kindbom lands a nice short elbow. Monke is trying to maintain the position but Kindbom is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kindbom missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Monke on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Monke tries to get out of the position. Kindbom wants to work for an arm triangle but Monke is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Monke is not content to let Kindbom control the position. Monke controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Monke is trying to control but can't.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Monke has his takedown stuffed and Kindbom counters with a nice double leg into side control. Monke won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Monke managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kindbom.
Monke struggling a bit here. Kindbom stands up and we're back to a striking position. Monke bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monke controls the position from side control. Monke trying to control the action but Kindbom is working from the bottom. Kindbom manages to work his way to half guard, despite Monke's best efforts. Kindbom slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Monke controlling from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monke wants to control from the top but Kindbom keeps moving. Monke throwing strikes from guard but Kindbom blocks nicely. Kindbom being controlled here, momentarily. Kindbom keeping moving, preventing Monke from controlling successfully.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Derek Monke just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Monke scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Monke wants to pass to mount but Kindbom is defending the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Monke takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kindbom looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Monke is figuring out what he wants to do next. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Monke dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Monke misses with a takedown attempt and Kindbom counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Monke's guard now. Kindbom advances to half guard. Kindbom is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! A nice elbow there by Kindbom. Kindbom looking to control but Monke is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Monke is trying desperately to improve position. Kindbom pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Kindbom fails to advance to Monke's back. Kindbom misses with a head shot. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monke is trying to escape the mount.
Kindbom wants to control the pace but Monke is squirming around nicely. Monke is desperately trying to improve his position but Kindbom has a good base and remains in mount. Daniel Kindbom has got the better of the ground game so far. Monke is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kindbom has taken his back.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kindbom's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Monke rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Kindbom wants to take a breather but Monke is having none of it. Monke wants to get back to full guard. Kindbom is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Monke doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kindbom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Monke shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kindbom as he jumps to the side. Monke looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kindbom! Kindbom is trying desperately to improve position. Monke controlling his opponent. Monke trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monke postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kindbom looks a forlorn figure.
Kindbom bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kindbom would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Monke looking for a sweep. Not yet Monke, not yet. Monke is trying to control the position but Kindbom postures up. Kindbom passes easily into side control. Nice work. Monke tries to improve position but can't. Kindbom trying to control the action but Monke is working from the bottom. Kindbom might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Monke kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Let's see what he's got on the ground. Kindbom is refusing to be controlled, as Monke sits in half guard. Kindbom is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Monke is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Monke tries to pass to full mount but Kindbom defends it. Kindbom wants to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Daniel Kindbom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Kindbom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
