Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Big Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Florian Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Florian Mayer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Big Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Florian Mayer!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Bob with that takedown attempt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mayer!
Bob wants to clinch.

Mayer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bob tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mayer is in Bob's guard.

Bob looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bob is striking off his back. Mayer thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Mayer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mayer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mayer stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bob to get to his feet.

Mayer slips a jab and a cross from Bob.
Mayer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bob defends it nicely.

Bob feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mayer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bob's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bob's back!
Bob manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mayer's guard. Nice work there by Bob.

Mayer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bob dives into side control.
Bob is looking to take a break and control but Mayer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bob decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mayer to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayer throws a head kick but Bob moves out of range.
Mayer throws a series of strikes that have Bob backpedaling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Big Bob will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mayer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bob postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mayer looks a forlorn figure.

Mayer defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Bob's arms.

Mayer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bob kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mayer is holding onto Bob's left hand, preventing any choke attempts.
Bob wants to control but Mayer is keeping busy.

Bob doesn't have the hooks in and Mayer manages to turn into his guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mayer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mayer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bob to the mat! Bob manages to get full guard.

Bob escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mayer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mayer stands and steps away. Bob gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mayer instigates a clinch.

Bob successfully pulls guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bob has a closed guard, preventing Mayer from standing up.

Bob has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Mayer off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Bob keeps the fight on the outside.
Mayer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bob swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bob closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bob wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mayer, who protects the arm well.
Bob will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mayer is not content to let Bob control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Bob dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Mayer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mayer.
Mayer is looking for a takedown.

Mayer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mayer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bob to the ground. Mayer is now in Bob's guard.

Mayer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bob gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mayer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bob working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mayer's head.

Mayer throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bob escapes and throws Mayer's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Mayer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mayer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayer is trying to control Bob's posture but Bob avoids it.

Bob stands up and beckons Mayer to his feet.
A nice leg kick lands there from Mayer.
Bob tries to clinch but Mayer is having none of it.

Mayer feints and as Bob raises his hands in defense, Mayer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mayer wants to stand but Bob has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mayer wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
Bob is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bob is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bob is trying to control the action in half guard but Mayer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bob is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mayer is just riding it out for now. Bob eventually gives up the hold.
Bob wants to take a breather but Mayer is having none of it.
Big Bob overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bob takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Florian Mayer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Big Bob is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Big Bob.
Mayer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Florian Mayer.
I think Bob has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
