Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hattori Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hattori Chiba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hattori Chiba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Alonso! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Alonso with that takedown attempt. A punch combination from Alonso misses. Chiba misses with a takedown attempt - Alonso sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Alonso misses with a two punch combination.
Chiba shoots in for a double leg but Alonso sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Chiba shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hattori Chiba. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alonso is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Chiba closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chiba lands in his opponent's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Chiba stops Alonso from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chiba thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Chiba postures up.
Chiba is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Chiba looking to pass the guard. Alonso throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Alonso wants to sweep but no luck. Chiba drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alonso manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chiba has Alonso in his guard. Alonso tries to free his leg and advance position but Chiba is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alonso wants to control from the top but Chiba keeps moving. Alonso working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Alonso throws a big elbow that misses. Chiba pulls Alonso in close to his closed guard and prevents Alonso from doing any damage or advancing position. Alonso wants to pass the guard but Chiba is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chiba managing to control the position.
Hattori Chiba has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Chiba avoids a punch combination nicely.
Alonso ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Alonso rushes Chiba and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Chiba pulls guard effortlessly. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chiba working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Alonso. Chiba is controlling Alonso's posture. Chiba preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Chiba keeping full guard, as Alonso tries to pass. Alonso trying to control but Chiba is working from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chiba is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ned Alonso will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alonso is defended easily by Chiba. Alonso waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Chiba. Alonso leaves Chiba with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Alonso throws a right and a left that Chiba avoids nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Alonso. Alonso creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Chiba sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alonso sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Chiba is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Alonso throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Chiba works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Alonso is trying to control. Chiba wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Chiba is looking to control Alonso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chiba avoid being mounted? Alonso is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alonso not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Alonso tries to pass the half guard into mount. Chiba knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Chiba is not content to let Alonso control the position. Chiba blocking the ground and pound attempt from Alonso.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alonso is pressing down on Chiba's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chiba is holding on for now. Chiba wants to control but Alonso is keeping busy.
Alonso thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Alonso not landing any meaningful shots this time. Alonso thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chiba's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alonso performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Alonso fails in his attempt to clinch. Chiba keeps the fight on the outside. Ned Alonso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alonso lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Alonso tries to clinch up and Chiba decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Alonso's guard. Chiba drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chiba jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ned Alonso showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

A punch combination from Alonso misses. No joy there for Alonso, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Alonso tries to clinch up. Chiba doesn't succeed with the takedown and Alonso counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hattori Chiba. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alonso scores with punches from side control. Chiba avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Alonso. Alonso is looking to take a break and control but Chiba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Chiba avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alonso. Alonso looks to land a strike but Chiba avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Alonso trying to control the position from guard on top but Chiba is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ned Alonso is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ned Alonso hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Chiba slaps away a takedown attempt from Alonso, before circling back to the center of the mat. Alonso wants to clinch so Chiba counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Alonso is adopting a defensive guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chiba has gone for a leg lock! Alonso slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chiba's guard. Hattori Chiba has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Alonso's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that's the end of the fight! Ned Alonso comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alonso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
