Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Glen Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnnie Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnnie Rico will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glen Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Johnnie Rico!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico fails to land with a series of punches.
Rico throws a big shot that misses.
Davis shoots in looking for a takedown but Rico manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rico's waist but Rico gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davis off to one side.
Davis shoots for a takedown but Rico saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Glen Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis tries to bum rush Rico with a series of wild strikes but Rico uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Rico moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Glen Davis has been cut.
Davis takes a swing at Rico's ribcage but misses.
Davis fails to land the takedown.
Rico lands a lovely overhand right.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rico stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rico throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rico sprawls well. Rico wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Davis gets slowly back to his feet.
Davis slips a straight right by Rico.

Rico misses with a looping right.
Rico connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Rico throws a right and a left that Davis avoids nicely.
Davis wants to clinch up but Rico keeps it at a distance.
Davis gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rico is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Davis shoots in looking for a takedown but Rico manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rico scores with a punch to the head.


Glen Davis's cut is getting worse.
Rico lands a nice hook to Davis's body. Davis takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rico connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Davis's hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rico pinned against the cage. Rico gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rico swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Rico gets caught napping as Davis dives in and scores a takedown. Rico manages to retain guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rico controls Davis momentarily but Davis frees himself.
Davis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Davis connects with a couple of short punches.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rico avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rico has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Davis has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis wants to control but Rico is keeping him busy.

Davis cracks Rico with a big right hand but Rico just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Rico dodges the ground and pound from Davis.
Rico tries to improve position but can't.
The ground and pound from Davis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Davis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Davis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Davis throws an elbow but Rico slips to the side and avoids it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Davis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Davis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rico down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rico is not content to let Davis control the position.
Davis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Davis throws an elbow but Rico slips to the side and avoids it well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Davis is looking to take a break and control but Rico is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rico taking punishment in the form of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnnie Rico will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Glen Davis's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Davis is defended easily by Rico.
Rico scores with a nice head shot.
Rico connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Davis slips a straight right by Rico.
Davis shoots for a double leg takedown but Rico sprawls well. He's pushed Davis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rico is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Davis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rico lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A nice combination there by Rico.


Glen Davis's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Davis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rico's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rico duly obliges.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Davis.

Jeez, Glen Davis's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Rico tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Davis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looks like Johnnie Rico has been cut.
Davis works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.


That has opened up Johnnie Rico's cut even more.
Rico on the wrong end of some ground and pound.


Johnnie Rico's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Johnnie Rico's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Glen Davis!
