PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Victor Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Gravel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Gravel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Gravel!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Creed pushes Gravel up against the cage in a clinch.

Gravel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Creed closes the distance and clinches up with Gravel, looking for a takedown. Creed pushes Gravel against the cage but Gravel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Creed gets caught flat footed, as Gravel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Creed is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gravel drops back looking for a leg! Creed is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Creed manages to kick Gravel off! Gravel jumps back into Creed's guard.

Creed has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gravel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Gravel pulls guard effortlessly.

Creed postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gravel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Creed, into his guard.

Gravel gets to his feet - Creed follows without any prompting.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Creed is on top in guard.

Creed drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Creed jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Creed is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gravel has escaped the position, nice work there.
Gravel prevents Creed from improving position.

Creed stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Gravel misses with a jab, cross combination.

Creed is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gravel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Creed drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gravel dives on top into guard.
Gravel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gravel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Creed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Creed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Creed pushes Gravel off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Gravel throws a nice looking combination but Creed bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Gravel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Creed's guard.

Creed escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gravel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Creed, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
