Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frodo Baggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Trea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Trea told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frodo Baggins!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Trea!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baggins throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Trea.
A solid leg kick lands there for Baggins.
Baggins throws a right and a left that both miss.
Baggins throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Trea takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Baggins ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Trea dodges the punch combination from Baggins.
Baggins digs a good hook to Trea's body.
Baggins misses with a few strikes there.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Baggins, as that shot connected.
Trea tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Baggins paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Baggins throws a series of punches but Trea moves out of range.
Baggins throws a body punch but Trea moves out of range.

Trea gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Trea shoots in looking for a takedown. Baggins tries to sprawl out of it but Trea keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baggins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Trea really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baggins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trea working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baggins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baggins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Both fighters circling a little - Baggins finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Trea throws a jab but it's blocked by Baggins.

Baggins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Trea moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Trea is looking to clinch.
Trea has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Baggins keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Baggins stalks Trea and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Trea's face. Trea staggers backwards, shaken.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Baggins has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Trea is trying to keep an underhook but Baggins manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Baggins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Trea does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Baggins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Trea wants to sweep here but Baggins controlling him for the moment.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Trea drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Baggins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trea has Baggins in his guard.

Frodo Baggins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like Baggins is going to stand back up.

Baggins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Trea is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Trea throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Baggins manages to pass to side control.

Trea is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Baggins off and has taken his back!
Trea lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Baggins hold on?!

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Frodo Baggins will probably get the nod.

Baggins is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Baggins had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Trea is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Baggins Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Trea's back instead.
