Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Chankin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunn comes to the cage accompanied by Fade to Black. Chankin has chosen medieval battle as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andre Chankin!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chankin's waist but Chankin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gunn off to one side.
Gunn stuffs the takedown attempt from Chankin. Chankin gets slowly back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Gunn or perhaps it was just good defense by Chankin which made him look bad.
Chankin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gunn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chankin circles away quickly and effectively.

Chankin has Gunn up against the cage in a clinch.

Chankin gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Chankin is trying to control. Gunn wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Chankin decides to return to a standing position.

and Gunn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chankin's guard.
Sam Gunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Chankin.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andre Chankin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Gunn dives in and grabs Chankin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chankin pushes down on Gunn's head and hops out.
Gunn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chankin sprawls well. Chankin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunn gets slowly back to his feet.

Gunn wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Chankin.

Chankin looking to secure an arm triangle but Gunn defends it well.

Chankin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Chankin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gunn is looking to escape.

Gunn wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chankin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Chankin manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gunn to take his back!

Chankin is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Gunn knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Gunn for a finish.
Chankin tries to get the hooks in deep but Gunn pushed the leg off.
Chankin has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Gunn.
Chankin is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Andre Chankin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chankin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gunn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chankin is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chankin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chankin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gunn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andre Chankin.
Gunn misses with a takedown attempt - Chankin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chankin leaves Gunn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Gunn.
Well Chankin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
