Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed comes to the cage accompanied by Bitkit - Explode. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Travis Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Staal!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed throws a jab but it's blocked by Staal.
Reed throws a low kick but Staal avoids it.
Reed uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Nice defenses there by Staal.

Staal throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reed tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Staal is in Reed's guard.
Reed utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Staal on the ground.
Reed managing to control the position.

Staal is fighting to break Reed's control of his arms but Reed is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Reed gets caught napping as Staal dives in and scores a takedown. Reed manages to retain guard.
Staal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Reed has control of Staal's left arm, preventing Staal from doing any damage.

Reed has momentary wrist control but Staal slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Staal throws an elbow but Reed slips to the side and avoids it well.
Staal landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Staal lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reed down.
Reed avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Staal.

Staal decides to stand back up. Staal steps back and let's Reed get back to his feet.
Reed throws a combination that misses
and Staal counters with a two punch combo.
Reed misses with a few strikes there.
Staal throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Reed catches Staal with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Reed throws a leg kick
and Staal cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Reed ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Staal moves away.
Staal throws a series of strikes that have Reed backpedaling.
Reed throws a shot from downtown. Staal moves away and avoids it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Staal steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Reed.
Reed throws a hook but Staal blocks it.
An inside leg kick lands from Staal.
Staal cracks Reed with a right hand to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Staal dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Staal stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


Reed is rocked!
Staal dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Staal uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Reed.
Reed ducks right into an uppercut from Staal.
Oh Reed is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Reed throws a hook but Staal avoids it easily.
Staal tries to clinch up.
Reed seems to have got his legs back now.
Reed lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Reed lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Staal. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Staal drops his hands momentarily and Reed takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Travis Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Staal counters with a nice kick to the body.
Reed just misses with a punch to the body.
Reed lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Staal circles away quickly and effectively.
Staal uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Reed.

Staal swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Reed throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Staal tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Staal moves away from the strike by Reed.

Travis Reed is winning the standup battle so far.
Staal throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Staal slips a straight right by Reed.
Reed catches Staal with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reed takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Staal counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Staal dips to his left and cracks Reed with an uppercut!

Staal throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

John Staal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Staal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
