Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Murray Esson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Esson comes to the cage accompanied by Amy MacDonald - This Is The Life. Peterson has chosen Remember the Name by Fort Minor as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Murray Esson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Peterson! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peterson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peterson showed some decent athleticism there. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Esson has hold of Peterson's hands but Peterson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Esson is pressing down on Peterson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Esson looking for a guillotine here but Peterson defends easily.
Esson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peterson is one step ahead there. Peterson postures up in Esson's guard and throws a big left but Esson blocks it. Peterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Esson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Esson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Esson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Peterson, into his guard. Esson wants to control from the top but Peterson keeps moving. Esson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Esson scoring with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peterson is looking for a triangle but Esson pushes his legs off easily.
Peterson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Esson defends it easily. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Peterson can't keep his opponent in guard - Esson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esson tries to pass to full mount but Peterson defends it. Esson is keen to just control but Peterson is a slippery customer. Esson is looking to advance position but Peterson won't allow it. Esson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Peterson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Esson. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Peterson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Esson wants to take a breather but Peterson is having none of it. Esson is looking for a kimura but Peterson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Esson to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Esson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Esson is taking a breather. Peterson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Esson seems to be looking for submissions.

Esson won't allow Peterson to sweep him here. Esson wants to pass the guard but Peterson is keeping the position. Esson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Peterson's head. Esson landing with the ground and pound. Esson lands a couple of elbows.

Peterson is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Esson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peterson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Peterson looking to control.
Peterson controlling the position. Esson forces his way into half guard. Esson wants to take a breather but Peterson is having none of it. Esson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Peterson has managed to free his arm - good work. Esson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Peterson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Esson lands with a punch from half guard. Peterson is still in real trouble! Can Esson finish him? Esson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Peterson seems to have recovered his senses. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Peterson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Esson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Esson's back! Esson wants to control his opponent's hands but Peterson gets his hands free. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Murray Esson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Esson looks to score with a jab to the body but Peterson is just out of range. Peterson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. An inside leg kick from Peterson misses. Esson cracks the inside of Peterson's front leg. Murray Esson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Esson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Esson tests Peterson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Esson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Esson looking to score a takedown here. Peterson is defending well but Esson drives through and ends up in Peterson's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Esson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peterson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Esson with a flurry of punches that miss. Peterson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Esson passes into half guard. Esson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Peterson is refusing to be controlled, as Esson sits in half guard. Esson wants to pass the guard but Peterson is defending well. Peterson wants to control but Esson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Peterson actively working from the bottom here. Esson is trying to work for a kimura but Peterson is defending well.
Esson wants to free his trapped foot but Peterson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Esson is working for a kimura but Peterson is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peterson tries to get to full guard but Esson has control of the leg. Esson passes to side control. Esson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Esson works to advance to full mount. Peterson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Peterson is squirming around, avoiding Esson's attempts to control the action. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Esson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Peterson hang on? Esson content just to control the position here. Peterson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Peterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Esson is in close to Peterson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Peterson keeping moving, preventing Esson from controlling successfully. Esson wants to pass the guard but Peterson is keeping the position. Peterson striking off his back but it's not causing Esson any problems. Esson passes into half guard. Esson trying to control from half guard but Peterson is working away. Esson works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Peterson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action! A big strike lands for Esson! That's really hurt Peterson and he's turned his back - Esson keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Esson jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Murray Esson! In his post fight interview, Murray Esson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
