Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Studebaker Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk comes to the cage accompanied by silver hawk. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Studebaker Hawk! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremy Phillips! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phillips as he jumps to the side. Phillips lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively. Hawk shoots in for a takedown but Phillips shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hawk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hawk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hawk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phillips works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Phillips trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Phillips is on top in guard.
Phillips throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Phillips looking to pass the guard. Phillips advances to half guard. Hawk is defending against the submission attempts here by Phillips.

Hawk tries to roll over but Phillips keeps him under control. Phillips is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hawk has managed to free his arm - good work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Phillips sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hawk defending well though. Phillips is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hawk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Phillips. Phillips is looking for a kimura here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Phillips drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hawk looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hawk looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hawk! Phillips manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hawk's best efforts. Hawk looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Phillips wants to get back to full guard. Hawk is working for a kimura but Phillips is defending it quite comfortably.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawk is trying to control the action in half guard but Phillips is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hawk seems to be looking for submissions.
Phillips tries to roll over but Hawk keeps him under control. Hawk wants to control but Phillips is keeping him busy. Phillips slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hawk stopping the sweep attempt from Phillips. Phillips controls Hawk momentarily but Hawk frees himself. Hawk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hawk! Phillips has hold of Hawk's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hawk manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Hawk is looking to improve his position but Phillips isn't that keen on the idea. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Phillips fails to move to back control. Hawk is wriggling around trying to escape.

Jeremy Phillips dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Phillips throws a lazy uppercut
and Hawk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Phillips tries to land a sweep but no joy. Phillips keeping moving, preventing Hawk from controlling successfully. Phillips trying to keep a closed guard but Hawk is proving a slippery customer.
Hawk drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Phillips dives on top into guard. Hawk is looking for a triangle but Phillips pushes his legs off easily.
Hawk has his foot on Phillips's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Phillips works his way back into a safe position though. Phillips trying to control the position from guard on top but Hawk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hawk trying to control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Phillips stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hawk swivels though and keeps the full guard. Phillips trying to control but Hawk is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillips got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hawk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Phillips has managed to get both his arms back between Hawk's legs - danger averted. Phillips preventing the sweep. Hawk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Phillips doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Phillips manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hawk is in all sorts of trouble here.
Phillips goes for an armbar but Hawk turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hawk. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Phillips is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hawk regains full guard. Nicely done. Hawk is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phillips defends well. Phillips trying to control the position from guard on top but Hawk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Phillips is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phillips pushing down on Hawk's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hawk is looking for a sweep. Phillips is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Phillips is pressing down on Hawk's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hawk is holding on for now. Phillips throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Phillips trying to control from half guard but Hawk is working away. Phillips stalling away here and it's allowed Hawk to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Hawk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Phillips doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Phillips manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Phillips passes easily into side control. Nice work. A close second round but Jeremy Phillips will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hawk misses with a takedown attempt - Phillips sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Phillips throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Phillips tries to clinch up. Hawk takes one on the button. Hawk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phillips tries to avoid it but Hawk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phillips to the ground. Phillips escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hawk moves out of range as Phillips strikes. A nice combination there by Phillips.

A close third round but Jeremy Phillips just about did enough to take it. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A big right from Phillips misses. Phillips moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Phillips fails in his attempt to clinch. Hawk has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hawk there as he acknowledges the shot. Phillips connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hawk's hands. Phillips slaps away a takedown attempt from Hawk, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hawk misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Phillips is fending him off so far but Hawk persists. Nope, Phillips circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Studebaker Hawk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hawk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Phillips as he avoids it easily. Phillips jabs Hawk right on the nose. Hawk blinks but takes it well. Phillips wants to clinch up but Hawk keeps it at a distance. Phillips defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hawk. Phillips ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawk moves away. Phillips lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Phillips fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hawk looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phillips bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hawk's head. Hawk misses with a jab, cross combination.
Phillips is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hawk looks for a takedown but Phillips sprawls well. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Hawk swats away the attempt to clinch by Phillips. Phillips throws a lazy right hand but Hawk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phillips digs a good hook to Hawk's body.
Phillips stuffs the takedown attempt from Hawk. Hawk gets slowly back to his feet. Hawk circles away from the clinch attempt.
Phillips lands with an overhand left. Phillips jabs Hawk right on the nose. Hawk blinks but takes it well. Phillips looks to score with a jab to the body but Hawk is just out of range. Hawk has his takedown stuffed and Phillips counters with a right hand to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Phillips won't be happy with that. Hawk goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Phillips has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hawk but great work by Phillips. The ground and pound from Phillips seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Phillips has hold of Hawk's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hawk tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Phillips cranks the arm and Hawk screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hawk, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
