Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brian Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lorenz Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Hawkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lorenz Acevedo! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawkins manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Acevedo on his heels. He'll look to pass Acevedo's guard now, I'm sure. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Acevedo can do anything to dispel that myth. Acevedo is looking for a triangle but Hawkins pushes his legs off easily.
Acevedo pulls Hawkins in close to his closed guard and prevents Hawkins from doing any damage or advancing position. Acevedo trying to control the position.
Hawkins is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hawkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Hawkins avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hawkins stops Acevedo from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brian Hawkins. Acevedo clinches up with Hawkins and pushes him back against the cage. Acevedo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hawkins prevents it.

Acevedo tightens his grip and picks Hawkins up, before dumping him to the ground. Hawkins manages to land in guard. Acevedo with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Acevedo wants to control from the top but Hawkins keeps moving. Hawkins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Acevedo has gone for a leg lock! Hawkins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Acevedo's guard. Hawkins's corner is telling him to maintain position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hawkins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Acevedo for as long as he can get away with. Hawkins looking to pass the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Acevedo tries to clinch there but Hawkins circles away.
Acevedo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hawkins to score an easy takedown into full guard. Acevedo looks gassed! Acevedo is trying to keep Hawkins in close.
Acevedo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hawkins defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawkins wants to pass the guard but Acevedo is keeping the position. Acevedo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hawkins controls the pace. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Hawkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Acevedo is keeping the position for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hawkins fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Hawkins dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Hawkins scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Acevedo is trying to control Hawkins's posture but Hawkins avoids it. Acevedo tries to bench press Hawkins off him but Hawkins keeps the position. Acevedo trying to remain calm as Hawkins controls from the top position.

A jab lands there for Hawkins. Acevedo thows a body shot but no joy. Acevedo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hawkins. Hawkins closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Acevedo's guard. Acevedo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Acevedo is breathing heavily. Hawkinsis looking to pass into half guard but Acevedo pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Acevedo is in guard. Hawkins seems keen to control Acevedo's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawkins is working an open guard so Acevedo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Hawkins looks for a takedown but Acevedo sprawls well. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Acevedo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hawkins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hawkins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hawkins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Acevedo is trying to escape the mount.
Hawkins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Acevedo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Acevedo manages to regain half guard. Good work. Acevedo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hawkins controlling the action here.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hawkins. Acevedo wants to control but Hawkins postures up. Acevedo is trying to escape the position but Hawkins is controlling the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Acevedo is trying to get back to half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Acevedo stops Hawkins from passing to mount. Hawkins tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Hawkins controls the position. Hawkins tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Brian Hawkins has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Hawkins swings for the body but Acevedo moves out of range.
Acevedo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hawkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Acevedo fails with the takedown. Hawkins shoots in and gets a takedown into Acevedo's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hawkins is stalling in the full guard. Lorenz Acevedo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Acevedo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hawkins defends well.
And that's the end of the fight! Brian Hawkins showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hawkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
