Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kim Hendi! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Aldo!
Hendi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hendi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aldo as he jumps to the side. Hendi throws a half hearted mid kick. Hendi misses with a double jab.
Aldo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Aldo takes a swing at Hendi's ribcage but misses. Aldo throws a nice looking combination but Hendi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Aldo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hendi tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it. Hendi closes the distance and clinches. Aldo avoids the elbow strike from Hendi, against the cage.
Aldo tries to break free but Hendi pushes him back against the cage. Aldo is trying to break free. Aldo is trying to force a seperation but Hendi has the dominant position. Aldo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hendi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hendi has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Aldo after a bit of a struggle. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Hendi. Hendi is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Aldo is defending well. Aldo is trying to push Hendi away but Hendi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Aldo tries to break free but Hendi pushes him back against the cage. Hendi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Aldo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Hendi fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hendi is pressed up against the cage. Aldo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hendi down to the mat. Hendi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Aldo avoids the head kick by Hendi.
Aldo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Aldo misses with a few strikes there.
Hendi misses with a straight left. Aldo throws a series of punches but Hendi avoids them all with ease. Aldo tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hendi counters with a lovely shot to the body. Hendi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hendi breaks from the clinch.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown but Hendi shows good takedown defense. Hendi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hendi tries to clinch but Aldo moves out of range. Hendi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hendi fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice sprawl there from Aldo as Hendi shoots in. Hendi looks gassed! Some wild striking there from Hendi.
Aldo tries to bum rush Hendi with a series of wild strikes but Hendi uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hendi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hendi prevents Aldo from standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hendi stalling away here and it's allowed Aldo to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Hendi wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim Hendi has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Aldo lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hendi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aldo but Aldo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Aldo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Aldo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Aldo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hendi circles away quickly and effectively. Hendi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hendi closes the distance and clinches up with Aldo, looking for a takedown. Hendi pushes Aldo against the cage but Aldo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hendi pushes Aldo up against the cage in a clinch. Aldo tries to circle away but Hendi has him pinned against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aldo looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Aldo wants a takedown.
Hendi breaks the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Aldo as Hendi shoots in. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Aldo will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hendi avoids the body shot from Aldo.
Aldo jabs Hendi to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jose Aldo is winning the standup battle so far. Hendi shoots in for a takedown but Aldo shows good takedown defense. Aldo misses with a double jab
and Hendi moves into the clinch. Aldo has had enough of the clinch but Hendi keeps him there for the moment. Hendi is looking for a takedown. Aldo wants to break the clinch but can't.
Aldo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Aldo is trying to push Hendi away but Hendi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Hendi tries to score a body lock takedown but Aldo shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Hendi. Hendi trying to land knees to the body.
Hendi has Aldo pressed against the cage, preventing Aldo from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Aldo looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Hendi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Aldo looks to land a combination but Hendi avoids it well.

Hendi tries to land knees in the clinch but Aldo avoids the damage to the body. Hendi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hendi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aldo's waist but Aldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hendi off to one side. Hendi is breathing heavily. Hendi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Aldo looks to land a combination but Hendi avoids it well. Aldo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hendi circles away quickly and effectively. Aldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hendi moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Aldo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hendi counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Aldo wants to break the clinch but can't.
Aldo has hold of one of Hendi's legs. Hendi is fighting the takedown attempt but Aldo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Aldo is looking to work some ground and pound but Hendi has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hendi is trying to keep Aldo in close.
Hendi controlling the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hendi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Aldo has picked Hendi up and slammed him! Hendi can't keep hold of the triangle and Aldo manages to pass to side control! Hendi is looking to reverse the position. Aldo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Hendi tries to control but Aldo manages to take his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo has the hooks in. Hendi is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Aldo passes his arm under Hendi's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Hendi taps!
