Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Karim Chamakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Argo Surtr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chamakh comes to the ring accompanied by Immortal - Unearthly Kingdom. Argo Surtr has the eye of the tiger tonight.

19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karim Chamakh! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Argo Surtr! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Surtr misses with a body kick. Surtr throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Surtr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chamakh was well out of range. Poor timing from Surtr. Chamakh drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Chamakh throwing strikes from guard but Surtr blocks nicely. Chamakh postures up in Surtr's guard and throws a big left but Surtr blocks it. Chamakh preventing the sweep. Chamakh trying to control but Surtr is working from the bottom. Chamakh works over Surtr with some ground and pound from guard. Surtr working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chamakh.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chamakh accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Chamakh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Chamakh throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Chamakh throwing strikes from guard but Surtr blocks nicely. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Chamakh wants to control from the top but Surtr keeps moving. Surtr keeping full guard, as Chamakh tries to pass. Chamakh is stalling in the full guard. Surtr controls Chamakh momentarily but Chamakh frees himself. Chamakh throwing strikes from guard but Surtr blocks nicely.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Surtr tries a head kick but it misses.
Surtr goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Surtr scores with a kick to the midsection. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Surtr throws out a leg kick but Chamakh moves out of range and Surtr only half commits. Surtr swings and misses with a hook to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Surtr thumps Chamakh with a low kick. Chamakh has a takedown stuffed.

He lands a short punch in the meantime. Chamakh with the ground and pound but Surtr uses the opportunity to regain guard. Chamakh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Chamakh looking to sit in guard and control but Surtr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Surtr throws an elbow that misses. Chamakh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Surtr's guard. Nice move by Chamakh!

Chamakh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Surtr is keeping the position for now. Surtr controls Chamakh momentarily but Chamakh frees himself. Chamakh trying to control but Surtr is working from the bottom. Chamakh is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Surtr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. That's four minutes gone in the round. Surtr can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chamakh controls the pace. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Chamakh blocks the body kick.

A chopping leg kick lands by Surtr. Surtr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Chamakh is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Argo Surtr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Surtr keeps Chamakh at a distance using the push kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Karim Chamakh will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Surtr slaps away a takedown attempt from Chamakh, before circling back to the center of the mat. Surtr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chamakh. A telegraphed right hand from Chamakh misses the target. Surtr misses with a body kick. Surtr jabs Chamakh to the body, keeping him at a distance.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karim Chamakh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Surtr wants to clinch up but Chamakh keeps it at a distance. Argo Surtr seems to be getting the better of the standup. A swing and a miss from Chamakh. Surtr swings and misses with a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight! Argo Surtr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Chamakh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
