The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ranson tries to sprawl but Dicks drives through with a takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ranson gets full guard.
Dicks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ranson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dicks stopping the sweep attempt from Ranson.

Ranson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dicks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ranson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dicks swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Ranson has control of Dicks's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dicks regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Ranson goes for an armbar but Dicks turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Dicks.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ranson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ranson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dicks's guard.

Ranson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dicks defend it? Ranson steps over the head and cranks it - Dicks is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ranson!
