Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fernando Alves!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy walks into a stiff left hand from Alves.
Murphy fails with the takedown
and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murphy's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Murphy has wrist control.
Murphy has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.
Alves seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Murphy is trying to keep Alves in close.

Murphy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fernando Alves has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

and Alves takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Murphy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Murphy tries to score with a low kick but Alves moves his leg out of the way.
Murphy tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alves is able to avoid easily.
Murphy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murphy's guard.
Murphy is trying to control the position but Alves postures up.
Alves advances position into side control!
Alves tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Alves stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Murphy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alves holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Murphy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alves breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Murphy takes a kick to the side of the head.
Alves shoots in and bounces Murphy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Alves postures up in Murphy's guard and throws a big left but Murphy blocks it.
Murphy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Murphy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Murphy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alves is sitting in close to Murphy's body. Murphy has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Alves is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Alves is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Murphy.
