Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sami Kuristaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Luis Cantero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cantero has chosen La mandanga as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sami Kuristaja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Luis Cantero! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cantero misses with a wild body shot. Jose Luis Cantero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kuristaja misses with a head kick.
Kuristaja takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cantero slips under a jab. Kuristaja throws a head kick but Cantero moves out of range.
Kuristaja takes a kick to the side of the head. Cantero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kuristaja did well to prevent Cantero getting side control. Kuristaja is breathing heavily. Cantero is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kuristaja defends it well. Cantero is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuristaja is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cantero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kuristaja tries to kick Cantero off but Cantero keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Cantero is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kuristaja is just riding it out for now. Cantero eventually gives up the hold. Cantero is looking to take a break and control but Kuristaja is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cantero is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kuristaja defends it well. Cantero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cantero prevents Kuristaja from standing back up.
Kuristaja on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kuristaja tries to get out of the position. Cantero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cantero looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cantero stands up and beckons Kuristaja to join him on the feet. Cantero swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cantero misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kuristaja throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cantero just misses with a punch to the body.
Cantero lands a jab to the head.
Cantero throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kuristaja stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kuristaja throws a shot from downtown. Cantero moves away and avoids it. Cantero digs a good body shot into Kuristaja's ribs. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cantero throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kuristaja misses with a right hand and Cantero counters with a shoot takedown. Kuristaja fights it but they end up in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Luis Cantero dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kuristaja throws a hook to the side of Cantero's head but Cantero sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cantero misses with a body shot.
Cantero jabbing away but nothing is landing. Cantero fails to land with a series of punches.
Cantero tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kuristaja manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Kuristaja lands a lovely overhand right. Cantero tries to clinch but Kuristaja moves out of range. Cantero lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Kuristaja stuffs the takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kuristaja lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuristaja tries to close the distance and clinch but Cantero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cantero fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kuristaja manages to avoid it. Cantero steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kuristaja. Cantero misses with a body shot.
Cantero jabbing away but nothing is landing. Kuristaja takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Kuristaja gets caught flat footed, as Cantero shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Kuristaja can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cantero controls the pace. Kuristaja wants to get back to his feet but Cantero is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuristaja keeping full guard, as Cantero tries to pass. Kuristaja wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cantero manages to pass to side control. Cantero is trying to control the action in half guard but Kuristaja is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Cantero passes to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cantero trying to control the action but Kuristaja is working from the bottom. Kuristaja is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cantero asserts his dominance and retains side control. Cantero advances to full mount. Cantero working for a submission but Kuristaja is keeping him at bay.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cantero content just to control the position here. Cantero gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kuristaja keeps the fight on the outside. Kuristaja swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Luis Cantero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Cantero is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kuristaja rather than just go for the knockout. Cantero dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kuristaja takes a shot right to the bread basket. Cantero jabs at Kuristaja's body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kuristaja takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Cantero lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kuristaja doesn't seem phased though. A looping hook to the body misses from Cantero. Kuristaja does a little dance to reset his feet. Cantero thows a body shot but no joy. Cantero connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kuristaja's hands. Kuristaja throws a head kick that misses. Sami Kuristaja is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cantero lands a jab to the nose. Cantero throws a body punch but Kuristaja moves out of range. Cantero uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Cantero thows a body shot but no joy. Cantero throws a leg kick that misses.

Kuristaja throws a sloppy head kick and Kuristaja takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Cantero tries to clinch but Kuristaja moves out of range. A decent looking cross lands there for Cantero. This has been an exciting period of action! Kuristaja throws out a loose jab but Cantero uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuristaja throws a sloppy head kick and Cantero counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cantero lands a jab-cross combination. Cantero bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Kuristaja throws a combination that misses enabling Cantero to counter with a crisp jab. Kuristaja avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cantero ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kuristaja moves away. Sami Kuristaja has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kuristaja!

Cantero comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Kuristaja takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Cantero tests Kuristaja's chin there with a solid looking shot. Cantero swats away the attempt to clinch by Kuristaja. Jose Luis Cantero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kuristaja takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kuristaja misses with a straight left. Kuristaja gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jose Luis Cantero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cantero has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
