PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Kolsrud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ajizzle Robbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robbins has chosen rise against hero of war as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Kolsrud!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ajizzle Robbins!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robbins dives in and grabs Kolsrud's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kolsrud pushes down on Robbins's head and hops out.
Robbins shoots for a takedown but Kolsrud saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Robbins moves to clinch but Kolsrud breaks away

and Kolsrud counters with a shoot takedown. Robbins fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kolsrud trying to control but Robbins is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Robbins is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Kolsrud thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kolsrud passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Robbins prevents Kolsrud from improving position.

Kolsrud decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robbins throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A punch combination from Robbins misses.

and Kolsrud counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kolsrud.
Jay Kolsrud has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ajizzle Robbins.

Kolsrud pulls Robbins into guard.
Kolsrud pulls Robbins in close to his closed guard and prevents Robbins from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kolsrud is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kolsrud keeping moving, preventing Robbins from controlling successfully.

Robbins stands and throws Kolsrud's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Robbins goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kolsrud rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Robbins's guard! Nice work there by Kolsrud!
Robbins is trying to keep Kolsrud in close.
Kolsrud trying to control but Robbins is working from the bottom.
Robbins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kolsrud is one step ahead there.

Kolsrud throwing strikes but missing.
Kolsrud looking to pass the guard.
Kolsrud trying to control the position from guard on top but Robbins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kolsrud stopping the sweep attempt from Robbins.
Kolsrud postures up in Robbins's guard and throws a big left but Robbins blocks it.
Kolsrud trying to control but Robbins is working from the bottom.

Robbins wants to stand and escape but Kolsrud is having none of it.

We're going to have a standup here because Jay Kolsrud wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Robbins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Robbins looks gassed!
Kolsrud gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Kolsrud is refusing to be controlled, as Robbins sits in half guard.
Kolsrud is looking to control Robbins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kolsrud avoid being mounted?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kolsrud manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Robbins closes the distance and pushes Kolsrud back into the cage.
Robbins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kolsrud avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Robbins misses with a punch on the inside.

Kolsrud jumps guard.

Kolsrud escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robbins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Robbins trying to control the position from guard on top but Kolsrud is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kolsrud manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Robbins is looking to improve his position but Kolsrud isn't that keen on the idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kolsrud with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kolsrud trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kolsrud raining down hammerfists from mount.
Robbins is looking to improve his position but Kolsrud isn't that keen on the idea.
Robbins manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Kolsrud passes to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Robbins is wriggling around trying to escape.
Robbins tries to lock up and control but Kolsrud gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Robbins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kolsrud. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Robbins tries to reverse the position but Kolsrud maintains control.
Robbins is breathing heavily.
Kolsrud trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Robbins wants to control but Kolsrud is having none of it.
Robbins is trying to escape the mount but Kolsrud keeps good control and instead manages to take Robbins's back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Robbins won't enjoy being in this position. Kolsrud looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Robbins is tapping - it's over boys! Kolsrud picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jay Kolsrud!
An out of breath Jay Kolsrud thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
