Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul McGroin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matter Fatter! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGroin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fatter eats them both and turns towards McGroin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Matter Fatter has been cut. McGroin tries to sprawl but Fatter drives through with a takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Fatter tries to pass to full mount but McGroin defends it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Fatter scores with a couple of good hammerfists. McGroin is trying to maintain the position but Fatter is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGroin looking for submissions off his back. Fatter is looking to take a break and control but McGroin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fatter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Fatter trying to control from half guard but McGroin is working away.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matter Fatter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Fatter avoids the head kick by McGroin.

McGroin is breathing heavily. Fatter drives through with a takedown into McGroin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Fatter controls the pace of the fight for a moment. That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Fatter is staying tight to McGroin's torso, preventing him from escaping. McGroin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Fatter connects with a decent elbow. McGroin stops Fatter from passing to mount. Fatter tries to stand but McGroin is controlling his head. Fatter goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McGroin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fatter but great work by McGroin. McGroin is trying to get an arm triangle but Fatter is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fatter is trying to improve his position. McGroin wants to control but Fatter is keeping him busy. Fatter shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Fatter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fatter tries to stand and escape but McGroin actually recovers to full guard. Fatter trying to control the position from guard on top but McGroin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fatter postures up.
Fatter stays in close to McGroin's body and controls the position. McGroin is looking to stand up but Fatter isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matter Fatter has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. McGroin shoots in for a takedown but Fatter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. McGroin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. McGroin won't allow Fatter to get back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fatter can do anything to dispel that myth. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Paul McGroin. McGroin fails with a takedown attempt. Fatter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fatter showed some decent athleticism there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fatter stalling. Fatter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fatter postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for McGroin to stand up. Fatter lands with a slapping head kick. McGroin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fatter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on McGroin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. McGroin throws Fatter to one side and escapes! Fatter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McGroin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fatter trying to control the position from guard on top but McGroin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fatter might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McGroin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Fatter showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. McGroin keeping moving, preventing Fatter from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Matter Fatter. Fatter tries to clinch there but McGroin circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fatter scores with a takedown into McGroin's guard. McGroin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fatter manages to get himself to full guard.
Fatter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McGroin! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McGroin tries to hold on but Fatter pushes him away. Fatter stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. McGroin misses with a takedown attempt - Fatter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from McGroin enables Fatter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McGroin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Fatter looking to pass the guard. Fatter postures up.
McGroin wants to stand up but Fatter is controlling him. McGroin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fatter wants to control from the top but McGroin keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGroin is trying to keep Fatter in close.
McGroin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fatter is aware though and is defending well. Fatter trying to control but McGroin is working from the bottom. McGroin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fatter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McGroin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
And that's the end of the fight! Matter Fatter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Fatter winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
