Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Rumble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richie Yang!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yang tries for a takedown but Rumble circles away easily
letting Rumble counter with a right hand.
Richie Yang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut lands for Rumble. That snapped Yang's head back.
Yang doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rumble counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Yang thinking.
Yang takes a jab right on the kisser.
Yang shoots in looking for a takedown. Rumble tries to sprawl out of it but Yang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rumble manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Joe Rumble has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richie Yang.
Yang with a poor takedown
and Rumble counters with a nice uppercut.
Yang takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Yang shoots in but no luck this time.
Yang looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rumble paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Yang fails with the takedown
and Rumble counters with a crisp right hand that drops Yang! Rumble lets Yang back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Yang is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rumble ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Rumble sends Yang crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Rumble is motioning to the referee to let Yang up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Yang is still on wobbly legs! Can Rumble finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rumble lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Yang up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Rumble from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Yang's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Rumble!
