The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scalante.
Rua doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Rua tries to clinch but Scalante is having none of it.
Scalante scores with a shot to the body.
Scalante misses with a combination
and Rua counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Rua blocks a jab.
Scalante throws a combination that misses
and Rua counters by moving into the clinch.

Scalante is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Scalante can't find room to land a body shot as Rua controls the action.
Scalante tries to throw a body punch but Rua avoids it by throwing Scalante back against the cage.
Scalante swings wildly with an uppercut but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scalante is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rua is keeping busy.
Rua blocks an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Scalante has a couple of punches blocked by Rua.

Rua lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Scalante takes an elbow to the forehead.
That has opened up Rocky Scalante's cut even more.
Rua tries to land knees in the clinch but Scalante avoids the damage to the body.
Rua lands an elbow just above Scalante 's eye.
Scalante tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
With the fighters up against the cage, Rua throws an elbow but misses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Scalante creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Scalante misses with a punch on the inside.
Rua lands an elbow just above Scalante 's eye.
The cut above Rocky Scalante's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Scalante blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Rua lands an elbow inside.
Rocky Scalante's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rocky Scalante's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
