Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilya Orlov! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Ralcha! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ralcha blocks a head kick by Orlov.
Ralcha is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ralcha misses with a head kick.
Ralcha shoots and misses and Orlov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Orlov. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Ralcha looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Orlov stands and steps away. Ralcha gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ralcha circles away from the clinch attempt.
Orlov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ralcha swivels and escapes. Orlov shoots in looking for a takedown. Ralcha tries to sprawl out of it but Orlov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ralcha manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Orlov tries for a takedown but Ralcha circles away easily and Ralcha counters with a flying knee. Nice. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilya Orlov. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A thudding body kick lands there by Ralcha!
Ralcha feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Orlovs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Orlov is breathing heavily. Ralcha dives in and scores a takedown into Orlov's guard. Orlov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ralcha controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Ralcha tries to stand but Orlov is controlling from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ralcha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mikko Ralcha has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Ralcha throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Orlov's head.
It looks like Ilya Orlov has been cut. Ralcha lands a head kick!
Orlov is rocked! Ralcha and Orlov are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Ralcha throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Orlov into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Ralcha knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Mikko Ralcha! Mikko Ralcha is the new heavyweight champion!
