Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between VJ Kiwi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Goblin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). VJ Kiwi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, VJ Kiwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Goblin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiwi moves in looking to clinch but Goblin pushes him off.
Goblin shoots in for a double leg but Kiwi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kiwi tries to clinch up.
Kiwi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Goblin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kiwi really is a fat lump.
Goblin misses with a hook
and Kiwi counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Goblin is lucky that one didn't land flush.


Goblin is rocked!
Goblin misses with a series of wild punches.
Kiwi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kiwi.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Goblin is trying to improve his position.
Goblin wants to control but Kiwi postures up.

Kiwi decides to stand back up.
Good shot there by Kiwi.
Goblin leaves Kiwi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kiwi tries to clinch there but Goblin circles away.
Kiwi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kiwi closes the distance and clinches.

Kiwi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Goblin is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kiwi to the mat. Kiwi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Kiwi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Goblin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Goblin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kiwi tries to clinch but Goblin moves away

and Goblin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kiwi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kiwi is trying to stand up here but Goblin is controlling him well.
Kiwi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Goblin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kiwi kicks Goblin off and gets to his feet.
Kiwi is breathing heavily.
Kiwi scores with a leg kick.
Kiwi moves to clinch but Goblin breaks away

and Goblin counters with a takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiwi takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Goblin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kiwi keeps working.
Kiwi pushes Goblin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Goblin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Goblin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Goblin prevents Kiwi from escaping the position.
Goblin is working Kiwi over with some ground and pound from side control.
Goblin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kiwi explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Goblin dives in and grabs Kiwi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kiwi pushes down on Goblin's head and hops out.
VJ Kiwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Goblin.
Kiwi leaves Goblin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kiwi throws a head kick that misses.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kiwi.

Kiwi clinches up against the cage.
Kiwi tries to circle away but Goblin has him pinned against the cage.
Goblin wants to take the fight to the mat but Kiwi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Goblin has picked Kiwi up - he's going for a ride! Goblin dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Goblin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kiwi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kiwi is controlling Goblin's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kiwi wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that VJ Kiwi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kiwi enables Goblin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kiwi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kiwi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Goblin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kiwi is fending him off so far but Goblin persists. Nope, Kiwi circles away and we're back to standing.

Goblin gets a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kiwi is trying to maintain the position but Goblin is very close to passing his half guard.
Kiwi looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goblin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Kiwi kicks Goblin off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goblin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kiwi circles away.
Kiwi moves to clinch but Goblin breaks away

and Goblin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kiwi's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goblin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rafael Goblin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Kiwi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kiwi wants it to stay on the feet.
VJ Kiwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Goblin.

Kiwi tries to clinch but Goblin moves out of range.

and Kiwi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Goblin wants to break free but Kiwi has control.
Kiwi manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Goblin tries to score a body lock takedown but Kiwi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kiwi digs a right hand underneath Goblin's ribcage. Goblin let out a lung full of air as it connected.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kiwi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kiwi fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rafael Goblin will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Goblin keeps the fight on the outside.
Kiwi tries to clinch up but Goblin circles away and keeps his distance.
Goblin throws a body punch but Kiwi moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Goblin.

and Kiwi counters with a two punch combo.
Goblin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kiwi pinned against the cage. Kiwi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kiwi connects with the punch.
Goblin is still on wobbly legs! Can Kiwi finish him?
Nice shot lands for Kiwi.

Goblin seems to have recovered his senses.
VJ Kiwi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Goblin.
Goblin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kiwi moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kiwi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Goblin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kiwi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kiwi connects with a leg kick. Goblin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kiwi is looking to clinch but Goblin is avoiding it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goblin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Goblin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kiwi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goblin somewhat.

Kiwi tries to clinch up but Goblin circles away and keeps his distance.

Kiwi shoots in and bounces Goblin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kiwi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Goblin is working an open guard so Kiwi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Goblin moves into the clinch successfully.

Kiwi jumps guard and drags Goblin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kiwi will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kiwi manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Goblin looks for a takedown but Kiwi sprawls well.

Kiwi has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goblin tries to pull guard but Kiwi holds him up against the cage and eventually Goblin drops back down to his feet.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kiwi obliges.

Kiwi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kiwi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Goblin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goblin wants to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goblin fails to land the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
VJ Kiwi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kiwi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
