Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Edward Simpson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bach Js! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thud! ouch! good body kick from Simpson - that will leave a mark!
Js circles away from the clinch attempt.
Simpson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Js's calf. Simpson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Simpson tries to clinch there but Js circles away.
Js has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Simpson finds it's way round the side to connect with Js's head. Js will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Simpson lands with a nice body kick. Simpson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Simpson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Simpson throws a leg kick which misses Js's front leg but catches the back leg as Js tries to avoid it. Simpson swings for the body but Js moves out of range.
Js shoots in for a double leg but Simpson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Simpson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Js to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Js is standing up over Simpson. Simpson looks to escape but Js dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson can't do much from the bottom here. Js postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Js has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Js trying to control the position but Simpson is working away. Simpson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Js. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Js working the strikes but Simpson uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Simpson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Simpson tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simpson wants to get back to his feet. Js is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Js throwing shots but Simpson is blocking nicely. Js thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Simpson's head. Js is looking to take a break and control but Simpson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Js seems to be working for a kimura but Simpson defends the submission attempt. Js is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Simpson defends it well. Simpson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Js on the ground.

Js is thwarting Simpson's attempts to control the position. Js passes to side control. Js tries for a kimura but Simpson is defending well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Js is looking to take a break and control but Simpson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A close round but Bach Js will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Simpson is fending him off so far but Js persists. Nope, Simpson circles away and we're back to standing. Edward Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simpson is looking to slow Js down with leg kicks. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Simpson, right into the meat.
A head kick from Simpson lands but Js takes it in his stride. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Js looks to score with a jab to the body but Simpson is just out of range. Js throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Simpson darts in and clinches Js up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson crunches a lovely knee into Js's ribcage. Simpson creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Js's defenses. Simpson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Simpson working Js over with knees to the body. Simpson landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Js is breathing heavily. Simpson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Js tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Simpson smiles and moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Simpson cracks a nice hook into Js's ribs. Js takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A slapping leg kick lands for Simpson.

Simpson scores with a kick to the midsection. Edward Simpson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Js closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Js wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simpson keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simpson is doing well to control the position and prevent Js from advancing to side control. Js is looking for a kimura but Simpson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Js to get the leverage. Simpson is looking to improve his position.
Simpson has hold of Js's hands but Js slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Js trying to mount his opponent but Simpson defends it. Js stops Simpson from getting back to his feet.

Simpson tries to kick Js off but Js keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Js seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Simpson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Js scores with a couple of good hammerfists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Js shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Js is trying hard to land a takedown here. Simpson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Js's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Js sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Js fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simpson manages to avoid it. Simpson lands with a shot to the body. Simpson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Js. Good exchange - Simpson coming out on top. Js manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Simpson on his heels. He'll look to pass Simpson's guard now, I'm sure. Js trying to control but Simpson is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bach Js. Simpson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Js throws a leg kick but Simpson checks it. Simpson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Simpson is looking to wear down Js with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Simpson looks to land a body kick but Js moved away. Simpson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Js misses with a leg kick. Js misses with a straight left. Simpson lands with an uppercut that bounces Js off the cage and back into range. Simpson throws a body punch but Js moves out of range. Js chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Simpson can pounce on him.
Js tries for a takedown but Simpson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Js tries to move into range but Simpson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Edward Simpson is winning the standup battle so far. Js is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Simpson's half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Js not landing any meaningful shots this time. Simpson moves in looking to clinch but Js pushes him off. Simpson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Js misses with a knee strike.

It looks like Bach Js has been cut. Simpson lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Js is trying to pull guard but Simpson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Js is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Simpson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Simpson lands an elbow inside that Js shrugs off. Js prevents a body shot from Simpson. Simpson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Simpson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Js ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Js no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Simpson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Edward Simpson. Simpson scores with a shot to the body.
Simpson throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. No joy there for Js, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Js shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Js punching from mount but Simpson doing a good job of avoiding damage. Simpson wants to hold on but Js pushes him away. Js looking for a guillotine from mount but Simpson is having none of it. Js working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Simpson slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.

Simpson is staying active underneath Js, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Js is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Simpson reverses the position - he's now on top in Js's guard. Simpson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Simpson lands a nice shot to the body. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Simpson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Simpson lands a good knee to the midsection. Js won't want to take too many of those. This has been an exciting period of action! A nice glancing elbow lands by Simpson. Js has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Simpson. Simpson with a knee to the head.

Js lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Js is looking for the choke from the back position but Simpson is controlling his hands well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Js seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Simpson's chin but Simpson turns very nicely into Js's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Simpson.
