Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ryan Stuart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Junior Maia! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stuart leaves Maia with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. No luck for Maia with that takedown attempt. Stuart connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Maia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stuart.
Stuart closes the distance and clinches. Stuart gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maia actively working from the bottom here. Maia wants to get back to full guard. Maia actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stuart content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Maia is looking for a sweep. Stuart is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Stuart content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stuart is working away from the top position though. Stuart content to control rather than advance.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Stuart wasn't doing enough on the ground. Maia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stuart sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maia somewhat. Ryan Stuart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Maia. Stuart has closed the distance and engaged Maia in a clinch.
Maia pulls Stuart into guard.
Stuart is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Maia looking for a sweep. Not yet Maia, not yet. Maia keeping full guard, as Stuart tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stuart is aware though and is defending well. Stuart knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maia on the ground. Maia is looking for a triangle but Stuart pushes his legs off easily.
Maia looks gassed! Stuart stands up from guard. Let's bang! Maia is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stuart sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Stuart misses with a jab, cross combination.
Junior Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Maia doesn't succeed with the takedown and Stuart counters by clinching up. Stuart's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Stuart dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Stuart fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Sloppy strikes from Stuart. Those never looked like landing. Maia misses with a takedown and Stuart counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Stuart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Stuart tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stuart manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Stuart clinches up against the cage. Stuart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stuart closes the distance and pushes Maia back into the cage. Stuart manages to break the clinch.
Stuart looks to land a combination. Maia sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Stuart darts in and clinches Maia up against the cage. Stuart's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. An inside leg kick lands from Stuart. Stuart sizes up Maia with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Good standup being displayed there by Stuart as he connects with a hook. Stuart feints a jab promting Maia to slip. Stuart then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Maia slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Stuart connects with a right hand. Maia shakes it off. A punch combination from Stuart misses. Maia closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Stuart quickly recovers to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stuart regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Maia. Stuart wants to get back to his feet but Maia is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Stuart pushes Maia off and gets back to his feet.
Maia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Stuart counters with a good low kick that Maia was not able to check. Stuart scores with a one two! Maia had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Stuart shoots in and bounces Maia off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Stuart engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Stuart dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Stuart forces Maia back against the cage and clinches. Stuart lands a takedown into guard.
Stuart stands up and waves to Maia to follow him. Stuart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Maia tries for a takedown but Stuart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Maia tries for a takedown but Stuart circles away easily and Stuart counters with a one-two to the body. Stuart closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Maia quickly recovers to half guard. Ryan Stuart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Maia is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stuart is figuring out what he wants to do next. Stuart postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Maia to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia has his takedown stuffed and Stuart counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Ryan Stuart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Maia. Stuart tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maia paws at him with a jab and circles away. Stuart feints and as Maia raises his hands in defense, Stuart changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Stuart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stuart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Stuart got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stuart has managed to get both his arms back between Maia's legs - danger averted. Stuart is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Maia looking for a guillotine here but Stuart defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Stuart slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Stuart has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Stuart moves into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Maia drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stuart pulls his leg out and moves away.
Stuart throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Stuart is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maia can do to turn this around?

Maia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Stuart counters with a left to the body. Ryan Stuart is winning the standup battle so far. Stuart has taken the fight to the clinch.
Maia is looking to take this one to the mat. Stuart breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Maia tries to clinch up but Stuart circles away and keeps his distance. Stuart has closed the distance and engaged Maia in a clinch.

Stuart lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maia circles away quickly and effectively. Stuart lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Maia shoots and misses and Stuart counters with a lovely shot to the body. Stuart feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Maia's calf. Stuart clinches. Stuart wants the takedown. Maia is fighting it off but Stuart persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Maia's guard against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stuart is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stuart tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard. Stuart's corner is telling him to maintain position. Stuart trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ryan Stuart. Stuart tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Maia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Stuart throws a right and a left that Maia avoids nicely. A punch combination from Stuart misses. Maia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stuart pinned against the cage. Stuart gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Stuart throws a front kick that sends Maia stumbling back into the cage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The fight stays on the outside here - Stuart looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ryan Stuart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stuart scores with a slapping inside leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maia takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Stuart breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A right-left combo lands from Stuart.
It looks like Junior Maia has been cut. Stuart drives through and clinches with Maia against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A short right from Stuart. Maia tries to score a body lock takedown but Stuart shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Stuart pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stuart throws a right and a left that Maia avoids nicely. Maia fails with the takedown and Stuart counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Stuart lands with a nice body punch. Stuart lands a right hook to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Stuart. Stuart lands a really nice looking cross but Maia seems unphased.
Stuart rushes Maia and presses him up against the cage. Stuart swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Stuart is looking to wear down Maia with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Nice body kick there by Stuart. Stuart clinches. Stuart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Stuart keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Maia's efforts to push away. Knees to the body from Stuart.
Stuart turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Maia is trying to escape the position but Stuart is controlling the position. Maia tries to bench press Stuart off him but Stuart keeps the position. Maia is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Stuart controls the position. Stuart decides to stand up, so the ref orders Maia to his feet. Maia tries for a takedown but Stuart circles away easily and Stuart counters with a head kick. That will keep Maia thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia wants to clinch. Stuart lands with a nice combination. Maia backs away looking to recover. Stuart stuns Maia with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Ryan Stuart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Stuart throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Stuart closes the distance and lands a one-two. Stuart scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Maia wants to clinch up but Stuart keeps it at a distance. Stuart bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Maia manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Stuart wants to get back to his feet. Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stuart keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Maia is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Junior Maia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Maia thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Maia is looking for a kimura here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Maia wants to pass to mount but Stuart is defending the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Ryan Stuart showed his dominance in that final round. Well Stuart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
