Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Pieru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgie Landis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Pieru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Georgie Landis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pieru fails with the takedown
and Landis counters with a nice uppercut.
Landis bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pieru's head backwards.
Landis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pieru slips a jab from Landis.
Landis looks to land a right hand but Pieru moved out of range.
Landis looks to score with a jab to the body but Pieru is just out of range.
Landis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Landis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Pieru looking to score a takedown here. Landis is defending well but Pieru drives through and ends up in Landis's guard.
Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pieru throws an elbow that misses. Landis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pieru's guard. Nice move by Landis!
Landis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Landis trying to control but Pieru is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pieru looking for a sweep. Not yet Pieru, not yet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Georgie Landis wasn't active enough on the ground.

Pieru looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pieru looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Landis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pieru thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Landis wants to control but Pieru is keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pieru accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pieru throws a strike but Landis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pieru wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pieru bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Landis's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pieru throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Landis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Horrible takedown by Pieru or perhaps it was just good defense by Landis which made him look bad.
Pieru displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Landis throws out the jab.
Georgie Landis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pieru looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Landis is fending him off so far but Pieru persists. Nope, Landis circles away and we're back to standing.

Landis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pieru, pushing him back against the cage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pieru, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
