PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter Nobis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barron has chosen Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Nobis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phillip Barron!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barron keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nobis misses with a jab to the body
and Barron counters with a nice kick to the body.
Nobis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barron.
Nobis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Barron.
Nobis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Barron makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Horrible takedown by Nobis or perhaps it was just good defense by Barron which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Nobis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nobis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barron is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Barron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A decent looking cross lands there for Barron.
Nobis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barron's waist but Barron gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nobis off to one side.

Barron shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Barron was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Barron trying to control but Nobis is having none of it.

The referee warns Nobis that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Barron takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Nobis has his foot on Barron's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barron works his way back into a safe position though.
Barron not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Phillip Barron comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barron has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
