Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Ellison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellison has chosen im bad as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Antonio Ellison told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Patton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Ellison! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Patton has his foot on Ellison's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ellison works his way back into a safe position though. Ellison postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Patton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Patton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ellison is aware though and is defending well. Ellison with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Patton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ellison defends well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ellison tries to free his leg and advance position but Patton is retaining full guard. Ellison must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Patton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ellison defends it easily. Ellison thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Patton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ellison is trying to defend but Patton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The two fighters exchange a few words. Not this time though. Ellison has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patton is working away from the top position though. Ellison is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Patton is staying active.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellison is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Patton scores with a couple of nice shots. Patton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Patton raining down shots from the mount! Patton scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Ellison?

Patton landing strikes from the mount. Ellison taking shots to the head. Patton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ellison can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Patton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ellison is looking to get to half guard. Patton trying to control but Ellison is having none of it. Patton putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Patton cracks Ellison with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Patton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ellison hang on? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Patton sitting in guard, not really doing much. Patton stands and steps away. Ellison gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Patton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ellison looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Ellison taking some punishment here, with Patton in his half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Patton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ellison with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Patton scoring with strikes to the body and head. Patton stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Ellison pushes Patton up against the cage in a clinch.

Patton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Ellison takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Ellison is breathing heavily. Ellison is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Patton wants to control the pace but Ellison is squirming around nicely. Patton looking to finish Ellison with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ellison! Patton with shots to the head and body - Ellison looks very uncomfortable down there. Patton is landing with some decent strikes but Ellison is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ellison is rocked! Oooh a big shot lands for Patton! Ellison is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
