Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jake Kerns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vernon Koekemoer! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koekemoer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Kerns moves out of range as Koekemoer throws a body kick.
Koekemoer throws a series of punches but Kerns avoids them all with ease. Koekemoer tries a head kick but it misses.
Koekemoer finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Koekemoer shoots and misses and Kerns counters with a takedown into side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Koekemoer struggling a bit here. Koekemoer takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kerns prevents Koekemoer from escaping the position. Kerns working away. Kerns content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Kerns wants to control but Koekemoer is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koekemoer manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Koekemoer tries to roll over but Kerns keeps him under control. Kerns lands with a punch from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kerns controlling the pace. Kerns lands with a punch from half guard. Kerns missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Koekemoer trying to hold on to Kerns's head to control him but Kerns postures up.
Kerns takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kerns frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kerns cracks Koekemoer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kerns lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Koekemoer is rocked! Kerns lands a big elbow - Koekemoer is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Koekemoer is forced to tap out!
