PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clint Concrete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clint Concrete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Concrete fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Anderson sprawls well initially but Concrete persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Concrete seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Anderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Anderson wants to control but Concrete is keeping busy.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Concrete stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Concrete drives through with a takedown into Anderson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Concrete drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Concrete jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Concrete passes Anderson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Anderson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Concrete.
Concrete wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working.
Anderson won't allow Concrete to pass to mount.
Concrete throwing shots but Anderson is blocking nicely.
Concrete is keen to just control but Anderson is a slippery customer.

Concrete is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Anderson is staying active underneath Concrete, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Concrete content to control rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Clint Concrete.
Nice body punch from Concrete.
Anderson looks gassed!

Concrete closes the distance and clinches.

Anderson is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Concrete can't fight it off and eventually Anderson manages to take the fight to the floor. Concrete looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Concrete is pulling down on Anderson's head. It's preventing any offense from Anderson, at least for the moment.

Concrete kicks Anderson off and gets to his feet.
Charles Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Anderson gets a clinch.

Concrete escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches.
Anderson prevents the takedown attempt.

Anderson has clasped his hands together around Concrete's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Concrete gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Anderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Concrete. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Concrete wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Concrete moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Concrete pulls Anderson in to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Concrete has control of Anderson's left arm, preventing Anderson from doing any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Clint Concrete.
Concrete throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Concrete gets a clinch.
Anderson prevents the takedown attempt.

Concrete breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clint Concrete dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Concrete feints and as Anderson raises his hands in defense, Concrete changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Clint Concrete overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Concrete wants to stand up but Anderson is controlling the position.
Anderson won't allow Concrete to pass to mount.
Concrete is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Concrete throws some wild stikes that Anderson manages to avoid easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Concrete throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Concrete trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Anderson is breathing heavily.

Concrete has control of Anderson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Anderson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Anderson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Concrete punching from mount but Anderson doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Anderson is looking to get to half guard.
Anderson tries to lock up and control but Concrete gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Concrete has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Concrete misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Anderson has left one of his arms exposed and Concrete doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Anderson screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
