Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod The Bod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexei Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rod The Bod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexei Karelin!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karelin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Karelin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Karelin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but The Bod does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Karelin is controlling the pace.
Karelin tries to pass the half guard into mount. The Bod knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The Bod is trying to control but can't.
The Bod regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Bod has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Karelin has passed into side control.
The Bod wants to control but Karelin postures up.
Karelin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The Bod gets back to half guard.
The Bod moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karelin trying to control but The Bod is working from the bottom.
The Bod lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Karelin!
Karelin is bucking up trying to escape but The Bod cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Bod pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The Bod has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Karelin's face.
The Bod wants to control the pace but Karelin is squirming around nicely.
Karelin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The Bod has an active guard here but Karelin has managed to pass into half guard.
Karelin wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Bod keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Bod tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Karelin has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Karelin with the ground and pound from mount.
Karelin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The Bod is working to get back to half guard.
Karelin is trying to control here but The Bod has managed to regain half guard.
The Bod tries to roll over but Karelin keeps him under control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karelin is pressing down on The Bod's thigh, looking to free his foot. The Bod is holding on for now.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Karelin connects with a nice short shot to The Bod's temple.
The Bod is looking to improve his position.

Karelin is working for a submission of some sort.
Karelin looks gassed!
The Bod tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Karelin has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
The Bod is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alexei Karelin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The Bod tries for a takedown but Karelin circles away easily

and Karelin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The Bod's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karelin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The Bod looking to control.
The Bod manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The Bod is landing with some decent strikes but Karelin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Karelin is squirming around, avoiding The Bod's attempts to control the action.

Karelin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from The Bod.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The Bod goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Karelin turns into him and now he's in The Bod's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Karelin lands a couple of elbows.
Karelin forces his way into half guard.
The Bod is looking to control Karelin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can The Bod avoid being mounted?
The Bod is trying to get back to full guard.
Alexei Karelin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Karelin trying to control the action but The Bod is working from the bottom.
The Bod wants to improve his position but Karelin is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The Bod trying to control here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The Bod staying out of range there.

Karelin clinches.
Karelin taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Karelin drags the fight down to the ground.
The Bod is pushing down on Karelin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Karelin is fighting to maintain full guard but The Bod has managed to sneak the leg through.
The Bod seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karelin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Karelin tries to get to full guard but The Bod has control of the leg.

The Bod is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karelin wants to improve his position but The Bod is controlling well.
The Bod blocks the strikes from Karelin.
Karelin is staying active underneath The Bod, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
The Bod doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Karelin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for The Bod!

The Bod looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Karelin is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Karelin is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The Bod tries to escape but Karelin has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Karelin controlling the position well here. The Bod rolled but Karelin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The Bod manages to reverse the position and now he's in Karelin's guard. Nice work there by The Bod.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Karelin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Bod manages to get himself to full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexei Karelin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Karelin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The Bod trying to control the position from guard on top but Karelin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Karelin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but The Bod frees his head nicely. Oh but Karelin has switched to an armbar! The Bod is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Alexei Karelin!
