Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andres Aguinaldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, LL J! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! J changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. J throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aguinaldo's waist but Aguinaldo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing J off to one side. Excellent takedown into side control there by Aguinaldo. J is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Aguinaldo controlling the position. J manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! J is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Aguinaldo wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. J looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. J is working for a submission of some sort.
J is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aguinaldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time J.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Aguinaldo wants to control but J is keeping busy.
Aguinaldo is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. J throws a body punch but Aguinaldo moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. J ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aguinaldo moves away. Aguinaldo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. J is looking to reverse the position. Aguinaldo takes a little break here. J wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Aguinaldo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. J knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. J trying his best to control but Aguinaldo has mounted him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. J regains half guard. Aguinaldo prevents J from improving his position. J is trying to control but can't.
J actively working from the bottom here. J slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. J looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aguinaldo is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Andres Aguinaldo will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
J lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Andres Aguinaldo has been cut. J's corner calls for a 1-2. J obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Aguinaldo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. J misses with a takedown and Aguinaldo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in J's guard now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! J keeping busy on the bottom but Aguinaldo has passed one foot through into half guard.
Aguinaldo controlling the action here. J is breathing heavily. Aguinaldo wants to free his trapped foot but J is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. J wants to get back to full guard. J wants to control the action here but instead Aguinaldo manages to pass to full mount! J is looking to improve his position but Aguinaldo isn't that keen on the idea. J tries to improve his position but instead Aguinaldo has taken his back! J rolls, trying to escape but Aguinaldo keeps control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Aguinaldo controls the position. Aguinaldo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down J for as long as he can get away with. J trying to control the action but Aguinaldo just sinks the hooks in. J wants to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. J tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! J wants to hold on but Aguinaldo pushes him away. J is wriggling around trying to escape.
Aguinaldo controlling the pace for now. J tries to reverse the position but Aguinaldo maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. J looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! J tries to escape the position.
Aguinaldo gets his hands free as J looks to control. Aguinaldo has good solid back control here. J rolls, trying to escape but Aguinaldo keeps control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Andres Aguinaldo will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Andres Aguinaldo's cut. That's time! Aguinaldo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Aguinaldo misses with a takedown and J counters with a stiff right hand. Andres Aguinaldo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Aguinaldo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Aguinaldo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. J has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aguinaldo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. J wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Aguinaldo is now in half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. J is looking to get back to full guard here but Aguinaldo has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguinaldo controlling from mount. J regains half guard. J has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aguinaldo is working away from the top position though. J is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. J wants to get back to full guard but Aguinaldo has passed into side control. J is trying to reverse the position but instead Aguinaldo has taken his back - oops! Aguinaldo has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of J's body.
J turns into Aguinaldo and is now in his guard.
J looking to pass the guard. J postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Aguinaldo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of J, into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguinaldo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. J working for a triangle but Aguinaldo defends it easily.
J keeping busy on the bottom but Aguinaldo has passed one foot through into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Aguinaldo works his way into full mount! LL J has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! J is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. J is wriggling around trying to escape.
J is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. J chipping away with body shots but they're not going to hurt Aguinaldo.
And that's the end of the fight! Andres Aguinaldo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aguinaldo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
