Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between TJ Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). TJ Griffin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Albert Ashton's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, TJ Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Albert Ashton! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ashton fails with the takedown. Ashton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ashton lands in his opponent's guard. Griffin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Griffin tries to get out of the position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ashton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ashton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Griffin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ashton has Griffin in his guard. Ashton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ashton looking for a guillotine here but Griffin defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ashton is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ashton has a closed guard, preventing Griffin from standing up. Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ashton on the ground. Ashton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ashton wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling him. Ashton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Griffin wants to control but Ashton is keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin controlling the position for now. Ashton thows a huge punch but Griffin dodges it nicely.
Ashton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ashton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Griffin defends it well. Ashton seems to be working for a kimura but Griffin defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ashton thows a huge punch but Griffin dodges it nicely.

Albert Ashton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ashton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Griffin but Griffin pushes him off and we're back to square one. Griffin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ashton's head backwards. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ashton misses with a takedown attempt - Griffin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. TJ Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Albert Ashton. Ashton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ashton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griffin sees it coming and defends easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Griffin gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Albert Ashton dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Griffin works Ashton's body with a nice hook. Ashton has closed the distance and engaged Griffin in a clinch.
Griffin misses with a punch on the inside.
Griffin struggles to land a body shot inside as Ashton controls his hands.
Ashton can't get the takedown.
Ashton has Griffin pressed against the cage, preventing Griffin from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Ashton goes for a takedown attempt but Griffin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ashton shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense. TJ Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Albert Ashton. Ashton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Griffin as he avoids it easily. Ashton has a takedown stuffed. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ashton is defended easily by Griffin. Griffin misses with a hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin is looking to chop away at Ashton's legs. Ashton shoots in and drives through. Griffin sprawls well. TJ Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ashton tries for a takedown but Griffin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Griffin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Ashton is breathing heavily. Ashton shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Griffin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ashton's hands. Griffin feints and then cracks Ashton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ashton down. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Griffin scores with a shot to the body.
Griffin feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ashton sprawling to the canvas! Ashton rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Griffin finish him?!
Ashton is rocked!
It looks like Albert Ashton has been cut. Ashton takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Ashton is still on wobbly legs! Can Griffin finish him? Griffin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ashton at a distance.
Griffin feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Ashton crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). TJ Griffin! TJ Griffin bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
