Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Lewis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Double Burger! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Burger shoots in for a takedown but Lewis shows good takedown defense. Lewis slaps away a takedown attempt from Burger, before circling back to the center of the mat. Burger fails with a takedown attempt. Sam Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Lewis throws a right and a left that Burger avoids nicely. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lewis!
Good leg kick by Lewis there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lewis tries to bum rush Burger with a series of wild strikes but Burger uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lewis throws a right and a left that Burger avoids nicely. Lewis drops Burger with a beautiful combination! Burger stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lewis is looking for the KO! Lewis leaves Burger with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lewis throws a combination. Burger tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Burger dodges the punch combination from Lewis.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lewis, as that shot connected.
Burger is rocked! Lewis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burger moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Burger waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lewis. Lewis lands a jab-cross combination. Burger is still on wobbly legs! Can Lewis finish him? Sloppy strikes from Lewis. Those never looked like landing. Lewis tries to bum rush Burger with a series of wild strikes but Burger uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Burger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lewis.

Sam Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lewis is breathing heavily. Lewis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Burger drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Burger is defended easily by Lewis. Burger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lewis was well out of range. Poor timing from Burger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lewis misses with a lunging right hand
and Burger counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Burger is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lewis defends it well. Burger is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lewis! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burger trying to control but he's not successful this time. Burger looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lewis tries to buck Burger off but he can't manage it. Lewis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Burger with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Poor strikes thrown by Burger there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burger wants to control the pace but Lewis is squirming around nicely. Burger has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Lewis is forced to tap!
