Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petri Saarinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Claudio Diaz! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss. Saarinen takes one to the side of the head.
Saarinen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz misses with the combination.

Petri Saarinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claudio Diaz. Diaz is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Saarinen's half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Saarinen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Saarinen is looking for a triangle but Diaz pushes his legs off easily.

Saarinen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well. Diaz stands and steps away. Saarinen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Claudio Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Saarinen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Diaz is in Saarinen's guard. Diaz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Saarinen's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saarinen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz stands up from guard. Let's bang! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saarinen's waist but Saarinen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side. Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Diaz looks gassed! Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Saarinen tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saarinen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Saarinen lands with a slapping head kick. A good leg kick by Saarinen. Saarinen stuffs the takedown. Diaz misses with a takedown attempt and Saarinen counters with an outside leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Saarinen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz. Saarinen scoring well with a low kick there.
Saarinen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Diaz takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Saarinen but Saarinen pushes him off and we're back to square one. Saarinen gets a clinch. Saarinen gets underhooks to prevent Diaz's takedown attempt.

Saarinen wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz is looking to stand up but Saarinen won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Saarinen is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Diaz rolls with it to try and escape but Saarinen cranks on the arm and Diaz is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
