The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carlson Jr sprawls well. Carlson Jr wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.
Carlson Jr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carlson Jr dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Carlson Jr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Diaz has his foot on Carlson Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlson Jr works his way back into a safe position though.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
