Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Boans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boans has chosen Round and Round by Ratt as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nate Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Boans! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boans fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rua manages to avoid it. Rua scores with a head kick. Boans tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Boans throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rua tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Boans is in Rua's guard. Boans content to stall in guard here. Rua is trying to control the position but Boans postures up. Rua working a defensive guard but Boans manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's one minute gone in the round. Boans misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rua prevents Boans from improving position. Rua avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Boans. Boans in side control, throwing shots but Rua defends. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boans taking a breather here. Rua takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boans working the strikes but Rua uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Boans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rua's head. Boans trying to pass the guard but Rua defending well. Rua is trying to stand.
Boans stands up from half guard. Rua buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rua closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua jumps guard but Boans turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Boans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rua avoids the body shot from Boans.
Nate Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rua misses with a kick to the body.
Boans takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Boans thows a leg kick but Rua checks it and Rua moves into the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Boans breaks from the clinch.
Boans shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rua throws a one two combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boans is pawing at Rua, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Rua's nose. Rua is badly hurt! Boans pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Rua tries desperately to hold on but Boans is relentless in his assault! As Rua receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Boans away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Boans! Jon Boans bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
