The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
It looks like Ariobaldo Tavarez has been cut.
Nielsen lands a nice shot that snaps Tavarez's head back.
Nielsen throws a series of punches but Tavarez avoids them all with ease.
Nielsen cracks Tavarez with a good jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tavarez gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Tavarez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
That has opened up Ariobaldo Tavarez's cut even more.
Nielsen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tavarez.
Tavarez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Nielsen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tavarez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tavarez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Tavarez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Tavarez walks into a left hand.
Nielsen scores with a nice right hand.
Nielsen throws a right hand that misses
and Tavarez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nielsen manages to get to full guard.
Nielsen seems keen to control Tavarez's posture.

Tavarez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tavarez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Brian Nielsen just wasn't active enough.

Tavarez darts in trying to clinch
enabling Nielsen to counter with a crisp jab.
The cut above Ariobaldo Tavarez's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Tavarez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nielsen.
Tavarez doesn't manage to clinch there - Nielsen circles away.
Tavarez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nielsen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nielsen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Tavarez slips under a jab.
Nielsen scores with a jab.
Tavarez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nielsen.

Nielsen lands a jab to Tavarez's midsection.
Nielsen is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Nielsen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Tavarez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Ariobaldo Tavarez's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Nielsen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
