Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Richmond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paolo Santana!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richmond lands an overhand right.
Richmond swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Santana lands a really nice looking cross but Richmond seems unphased.


It looks like James Richmond has been cut.

Santana displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Richmond throws out the jab.
Richmond feints a jab promting Santana to slip. Richmond then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Santana slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Richmond looks to score with a jab to the body but Santana is just out of range.
Santana scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters circle momentarily. Richmond darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Santana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Richmond manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Santana throws out a loose jab but Richmond uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Richmond counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Santana looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Richmond is fending him off so far but Santana persists. Nope, Richmond circles away and we're back to standing.

Paolo Santana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Santana throws a shot from downtown. Richmond moves away and avoids it.
Richmond rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Santana moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Santana takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Santana shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Santana is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Richmond has escaped the position, nice work there.
A lull in the action here as Santana stalls from top position.

Santana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Richmond on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Richmond tries to get out of the position.

Santana tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Santana has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Santana slows the pace down.

Richmond parries the strikes from Santana easily there. Santana is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Richmond to escape.
Richmond knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santana on the ground.
Richmond gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Richmond tries to hold on but Santana pushes him away.

Santana has hold of Richmond's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Richmond manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Santana can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Richmond is looking to escape.

Santana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Richmond sprawls well. Richmond wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Santana gets slowly back to his feet.

Richmond scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Santana doesn't seem bothered though.
Richmond misses with an uppercut.
Richmond lands a nice hook to Santana's body. Santana takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Santana slips a jab and a cross from Richmond.
Santana tests Richmond's chin there with a solid looking shot.


James Richmond's cut is getting worse.
Richmond throws a series of punches but Santana moves out of range.
Santana moves into range and connects with a jab.
Santana explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Santana! Richmond is out on his feet! Santana rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Richmond is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Richmond is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paolo Santana!
