The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartacus is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pen's half guard.
Spartacus is trying to control the action in half guard but Pen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Spartacus tries to stand and escape but Pen is controlling the position.

Pen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spartacus pinned against the cage. Spartacus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pen is pushing Spartacus's head away, looking to escape. Spartacus manages to hold on to the position though.

Pen is trying to control Spartacus's posture but Spartacus avoids it.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Spartacus goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Spartacus but great work by Pen.
Pen is staying tight to Spartacus's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Pen tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sharp Pen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
