Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryo Nakamura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Romziel! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakamura throws a shot to the body.
Nakamura closes the distance and pushes Romziel back into the cage. Nakamura holding his opponent close, against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Nakamura. Nakamura has Romziel pushed against the cage. Nakamura makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Nakamura lands an elbow just above Romziel 's eye.
It looks like Jason Romziel has been cut. Romziel taking a breather. Nakamura has Romziel pushed against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Nakamura. Romziel can't find room to land a body shot as Nakamura controls the action.
Nakamura lands a hook that snaps the head of Romziel backwards. Romziel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nakamura uses from the top position. Nakamura has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Romziel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nakamura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Romziel has a closed guard, preventing Nakamura from standing up. Nakamura engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ryo Nakamura. Nakamura scores with a sloppy right hand. Romziel should have avoided that one. Nakamura wants to clinch. Nakamura misses with a series of wild punches.
Romziel throws a body punch but Nakamura moves out of range. A cross from Nakamura lands. Nakamura closes the distance and clinches. Nakamura swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Romziel is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Romziel stalling against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakamura softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Romziel misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Nakamura lands on the inside with an uppercut. Nakamura lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Nakamura scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Romziel is rocked! Nakamura using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Romziel has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Nakamura lands on the inside with an uppercut. Romziel is still on wobbly legs! Can Nakamura finish him? Romziel is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Nakamura lands with a short shot to the head. Come on Romziel - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Romziel is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Romziel avoids the elbow strike from Nakamura, against the cage.
Romziel seems to have recovered his senses. Romziel is looking to control Nakamura's arms but Nakamura gets an underhook and turns him. Now Romziel has his back to the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nakamura gets through Romziel's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Nakamura lands a body punch in the clinch. Nice body punch from Nakamura - that landed with a thud.
Romziel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nakamura uses from the top position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nakamura trying to control the position from guard on top but Romziel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nakamura looking to pass the guard. Nakamura is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Nakamura advances position into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryo Nakamura dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jason Romziel's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Nakamura uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. A good leg kick by Nakamura. Romziel throws a sloppy head kick and Nakamura moves out of range easily. Nakamura misses with a few strikes there.
Nakamura avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Nakamura connects with the punch. Romziel misses with a straight left. A punch combination from Nakamura misses. Nakamura throws a wild body kick that Romziel sees coming a mile off. Romziel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nakamura scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Ryo Nakamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nakamura with a hook. Nakamura cracks Romziel with an open hand slap. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nakamura's jab looks to have found its range, popping Romziel under the eye. Nakamura cracks Romziel with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Romziel tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Nakamura pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Romziel is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryo Nakamura! A very excited looking Ryo Nakamura made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
